MPC #88: Big Machinery (Ends August 8)

Thanks everyone I am truly honored. For #88 I would really like to do ski lifts and snowcats, but since it is summer for most of us I will open it up to all kinds of big machinery, airplanes, big boats, excavation equipment, mining operations, etc. Close ups of the workings and gears of big machinery is acceptable as well.

Good luck and for those of you who haven't won before, the happy feeling is indeed wonderful.

    RULES:
    1. Photos must be taken within the time period of the contest.
    2. You may submit 3 photos during the competition.
    3. The contest moderator will choose 5 photos to be voted on.
    4. The winner will get a happy feeling in his/her pants. (That is a rule by the way, not an option.)
    5. In the event of a tie, the contest moderator will have the deciding vote.
    6. Winner will be the contest starter/moderator for the next comp.
    7. The winner has 3 days to start a new contest or 2nd place becomes the new winner.

I don't know if they'll let me take pics at work. Also don't know whether what we've got would really be "big" compared to a lot of stuff that's out there... Hmmm. This could be a tough one for some folks as places that have big machinery don't usually let nobodies from off the street get close and take pics.

Will have to get creative I suppose.

Not that I'm really bitching, it's a cool theme, just very challenging.

I like it. Hopefully I can get something interesting.
In the meantime, I got this spur of the moment pic of my cousin in-law surgically backfilling my garage foundation (note: this pic does not qualify, outside the time frame).

This one comes now that I'm off the jobsite. Sheesh.

I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Damn, back from a week on Lake Powell on the 13th. I'm sure I'd have some pretty good shots of big boats.

Luckily, I think I have something else up my sleeve.....

All things being equal I will prefer pictures of big machines, but if you guys are having trouble getting close enough for pictures I will consider photos of large infrastructure as well.

Vanisle is that some kind of crane?

Thats one of the "legs" of a huge A frame log dump used to unload off-highway logging trucks and dump them in a booming ground.

    ^on the right path.

FYI, I find 900x600 is a good size but my camera shoots a 3:2 ratio. I would keep the wide point within 900 and constrain proportions.

    Tough one for me.

People should learn endurance; they should learn to endure the discomforts of heat and cold, hunger and thirst; they should learn to be patient when receiving abuse and scorn; for it is the practice of endurance that quenches the fire of worldly passions which is burning up their bodies.

I'm leaving for 7 days in the Pasayten Wilderness Friday afternoon, so will check back when I get home on the 10th or 11th. These were taken July 24th.
