I lost all cred for K2's ski side of things when this campaign was rolled out at SIA..

wondering how this campaign went over with mom and pop ski shops. Or maybe i'm just too old and crusty to get the joke?

Odds are lots and lots of companies will go out of business in the next season or two. Lines are shrinking big time. There are only what 6 million total skiers and riders in N.America? Maybe that number has changed. vs some 60 million bike riders.... From first hand experience trying to make money off skiing and snowboarding is much tougher than most industries.

Note sure that's fair about Völkl. They're about the only 'big' ski company still making big fat funky pow shapes (one, two and three), and the VWerks stuff is fairly innovative and by all accounts ski well. Confessor looks good too.

Seth Morrison no longer with K2

K2 is going the way of Rossi. Remember when Rossi pretty much dropped everybody a while
Ago (6-7yrs ago?) and look at them now... Number one ski brand in units and dollars in the US. Like them or hate them (I'd rather ski on K2) they have proved it's not important to have this huge list of athletes to sell your brand. There are way more effective ways to spend your money.

So we are saying the exact same thing then. I guess I wasn't clear. I was saying if Seth turns into Plake = Value. Right now, not much value in Seth as just a ski bum. He is not an ambassador, but he could be. But Seth does not have the personality of Plake, so moot point.

Seth's personality is the opposite of Plake's

Agreed. Also, this thread has gone off the rails. Seth won't be like Plake (ever). He will not be on any Newell (formerly Jarden) owned ski companies. He is a great athlete. He'll figure it out.

Phew. Thanks for putting everyone at ease.

It certainly would be a bit more worrisome if he was a stay at home mom with 4 kids under 12 and his only options were video porn or phone sex.

This ^^^ (I stopped reading past this point).

As a former rep of several K2 Sports/Jarden brands...all the news of late is just a bummer to read. A dismantling of sorts... I'll refrain from any further speculation and blather but I will say I'm saddened. Working for K2 was the best back in the day and I was glad to be a part of it. And I have loved many a K2 ski...before, during, and after. Hero skis.

Rockstar - that shit gave me anxiety attacks. The stuff is dangerous to people with a predisposition to those types of issues. It skirts the line between pharma and nutra, which is already a very blurry line.

I've heard more than a few stories about X games athletes drinking water out of Red Bull cans...

sorry for the thread drift...I'm old and a day or two behind.

I love Plake. I love Elan. Glad they came together. Seth rocks too - hopefully he lands a killer new gig. I'm sure he will. He's a smart dude. He hasn't lived this long in this industry if he was FULL RETARD. (homage to Jer)

This, they've probably sold more Soul 7's than a lot of ski brands total sales combined.

I'd still like a pair of red or blue Pontoons because, Shane.

I'd looooooooove to see Seth with Praxis.
So much I contacted him and Keith and offered to help micro-fund it.

    Seth should contact Jerry Maguire.

I believe guys like Seth - guys with a history like Seth - are always ambassadors.
He may not be actively promoting anything(,) and through his history he inspired at least a generation .

Seth and Plake do not appeal to the same people, and both have inspired people to ski ... to me, they are both ambassadors...
