Umm... it's not like he's going to spend this season without a sponsor. Black Crows does seem like the obvious choice with the Cham connections. But we also have no idea what kind of $$$ Seth was making. He still has Oakley, though.

Same company that owns Rubbermade owns K2... I think. There's some connection like that.

Faction and Black Crows are salivating at the idea of Line/K2 and potentially Armada all getting shaken up or dieing. Seth Morrison endorsement deals aside.

I'm sure his compensation needs will only leave a few suitors and eliminate most boutique mfgs. "hey bro, you cool with two full quivers and a CC for gas for the winter ?" "huh, I was expecting some equity or at least enough cash to pay for my kid's college or ski bum life style for a decade ..."

yes Newell rubbermaid bought Jarden earlier this yr (Jarden owned K2, line, Full tilt, marmot, dalbello etc)
discussed earlier in this thread. I also owned JAH and NWL stock at the time - booyah!
sold NWL a little while ago which I should have held on to but now you guys have me thinking to look at it again, even if at least to get some intel on the outdoor solutions sector of the co

I was thinking about it and wondering how much he was probably making from his ski sponsor.....

    Oh equity firm garbage

Just like the firm that owned chrysler in early 2000's also owns bushmaster firearms and the second largest private military in the world. Cereus group. Fucking scum

This explains a lot about why Full Tilt's catalog is cut down so much this year. Might be time to start hording....

So you're saying the several pairs of boots and pile of parts I already have isn't enough? I'll just have to go buy more.

I'm sure it was north of 100k/yr. Could also be why K2 decided not to renew, thats a big chunk of change.

I would be extremely surprised if it were anywhere even near $100k
In fact I'd be surprised if it were even half that

I'm guessing he was getting more from Oakley and maybe Hestra than K2 and other sponsors. Oakley was the primary sponsor of The Ordinary Skier, for example. But yeah, pro free skiers (not racers) make WAY less than most people think they do.

I would think he was between $100-200K considering he had a signature line for many years and the PE firm had deep pockets that were on expansion mode during this time. Keep in mind K2 DOESN'T have a race dept so all the sponsorship money was allocated to the "extreme/free ride/park" ski sector. Tim Petrick is no longer there after a short stay after spending a few years with Rossignol which might signal that the mothership is changing things up. Letting a middle age legend leave your brand is never easy but sometimes can be a smart fiscal move for a company kind of like letting Joe Montana/Brett Favre/Payton Manning walk when they can clearly still play.

My guess would have been ~$35-40k from K2 in the hey day- but doubt he has pulled that recently. then a decent amount from Oakley maybe $20k- then a few grand from hestra and others. maybe a teeny bit from Full tilt but they really don't have much for athlete budget but dont necessarily need to bc the guys want to be in that boot anyway.
although Andrew just told me that Seth had a 6 figure offer from Monster a few yrs ago and turned it down so maybe he was pulling more than I thought!

I was thinking he had a healthy base of $50-75K plus appearance type fees (actual events plus any ski porn shots with K2 skis outside K2 shoots) and a few bucks from each pair of named skis sold. I would think the new PE group is most likely slashing and burning post purchase. Pretty standard operations. One PE group spends like crazy to increase sales(profit's don't matter) sell off to another PE group then they slice and dice post purchase. Keep in mind K2 wasn't some ski company on Vashon but ( tiny ) part of a big venture company portfolio. Pockets were deep and rich white guys get a little emotional about skiing.

yea maybe back in the day like 10+ yrs ago but highly doubt he was making that within the past 10 yrs
k2 appearances would not be pd although they do pay for travel expenses.
The other way the pro guys make money is thru coaching or a "camp" where they get pd a couple grand.
But really when some of your largest expendatures are gear and travel just getting that pd for makes the actual income less important
but really I know nothing except being a financial analyst that has covered Jarden/ NWL for yrs and I also have made out with a bunch of pro skiers over the yrs(not seth tho- a bit too goth for my tastes)
