Only a couple inches here in Steamboat overnight as well. But its snowing right now pretty steady, and that combined with the foot or so we had earlier this week and the upcoming forecast is a great sign. I'll finally get to make some turns in the bc next wednesday, I can't freaking wait.

Skinned up Ski Cooper today. There was about 4" of fluff up top, on what had been packed down by the cats. Base area was super shallow.

Just started snowing in Buena Vista about an hour ago (half inch). Going to poke around at Monarch tomorrow.

I am okay with this MS. I am pretty down this pattern of coldness and drier storms. If we think back to 07-08, not to say that we didn't have some big dumps, but, imo, the big 'it' factor for that season was the colder temps. In 08-09, we had lots of snow, but it was really warm. At least at these temps we can make snow, and the snow that is already on the ground holds well.

I think opening week should here could be really fun. Copper looks like it's doing pretty well...not many people there, saw lots of empty chairs.

Keystone was fun today, but pretty icy and scraped on the steeper sections.

They have steeper sections at Keystone.....who knew?

I to will happily take colder weather with small amounts falling....it's clearly much better than last year.

Beaver Creek reported 9" this morning...that is weird. Snowed lightly all night at my house, about 2" of super super light snow.

Breck reported 6" this morning. I had about 2" of 2% on my car this morning. I sneezed and my car was cleared off.

Could they possibly be padding that number for opening day? Nah.....

1 inch of really light dust in Silverthorne this morning. 5 Degrees before the sun came up.

Probably. It couldn't be that there's actually 6" new since yesterday morning.

Possible? Yes Probable? Not really, considering Copper reported 1 inch and the Stone reported 2.

Fuck it, who cares, more power to them, hope everyone has a great opening day at Breck

C'mon, you've lived here long enough to know that you don't use Keystone as a gage against other snow reports in Summit.

Anyways, I didn't see a report from Breck yesterday morning, so maybe the 6" new was in the last two days, although the Beav reported 9" new. 6" of 4% doesn't go a long way though. Horseshoe and Contest haven't been skied yet, so it should be pretty good up there. Cool to see the mid-mountain base depth at 29".

Yeah, headed to copper with the Wife today, should be nice.

I bet Keystone and the basin will be pretty empty today though.

Any insight into how Vail Pass did with these recent storms/will do with the Saturday one?

Want to get the sleds out for a road ride, but haven't been up that way at all this winter.

Some random totals around...like 9" at Beav? Whoa... But since many of the resorts aren't open, some of these totals could be 48hrs like a few have mentioned here.

More weak storms coming down the pipe through Tuesday (mostly I-70 and north) and then a few days of dry and warmer weather before a bigger storm toward the end of next weekend. Can't complain an ounce about this pattern.

Just got back to the office from the shitshow that was Breckenridge today. Some of the best opening day conditions that I can remember (only '02/'03 sticks out ahead). It was also the busiest opening day ever......SHOCKER!! I made a few laps off the CO chair until it was time to wait for patrol to open up the hiking to the top of Horseshoe Bowl. Patrol told us to not "ski like gapers", dropped the rope and it was off to the races with about 400 of my closest friends. It took me about 25 minutes to reach the top of Outlaw Gully with only 4 people skinning ahead of me. There was a solid 12" - 15" of some ultra-light snow in the Gully. Turns were great down through the gut, but I clipped a couple of lurkers coming out on the apron. Good thing I wasn't hauling ass.

Can someone tell me why Beaver Creek is reporting snow totals now when they don't open for another two weeks?

My guess is so they can count it towards their season total, much like Keystone did when they started the year off at 35". I can't believe VRI isn't doing the locals a favor and telling them what to expect if/when they skin up the mountain.

None that I know of recently, but a bunch of pickup trucks in chains (some without), and guys dressed in orange. I've been using an ATV up to around 11k. I've been regularly hiking to 10k and there is only shin deep maximum. I wouldn't say it's sled ready at all. A couple of eager beavers after the first big storm, but it got real warm, and (mostly) started over sled wise. Lots of nasty persistent layers remain. Either sun crust then rot, or just rot, with some fresh on top. Take if from someone who's been in the bc every day since last Friday, not someone who works M-Sat. in a mattress store down valley. +1. It was very good and very fun today. Did 4 runs up in the bowl, only once did I nick the tops of two rocks - only superficial scratches to show for it - otherwise, just deep and quite light on top. Do you have an Al-mart sticker by chance on your skis? May have seen you in a ways ahead in the liftline...
