Nice. How old is your boy?

Anyone have any good links to attend forecasts for Austria? Particularly the Salzburger region.
Been trying to follow along with the snowpack this season, but now that I'm arriving, would like to be able to read some good forecasts. Things seem a bit dodgy in places this season...
https://lawine.salzburg.at/en/
It's pretty bad in the east and not getting much better. If you're not set on Austria, go west. This week In Valais and France, or even Arlberg and northern switz( not as certain as further west though), should be good to awesome. I am definitely coming out next weekend. Forecast after next weekend is not inspiring... [emoji33]?[emoji24]
The South will also get snow but it's basically their start of the winter.

Mate you've not even touched the surface and that's wouldn't be for lack of trying but just lack of knowledgeand time. April is a good time for the EK everything's filled out and in play. Tignes side has plenty of spicey stuff and very easily accessible. Did you see the eye of the needle?

Dry as a nuns snatch. Bring your slalom skis and stick to the icy piste and avoid the Dutch nutters. Unless you like dust on frozen crud then fill your boots there's plenty of that

Thanks for the link. We are set on eastern Austria ad we have accommodation lined up and Salzburger super ski passes. Main reason for the trip is to hit the races in Kitzbuhel and Schladming so why we are going that direction. We do realize it will likely be more of a groomer trip than what we usually ski.
Then again, living in Banff, we are pretty used to dust on crust!

Uses Geosphere data, so decent.
If you're really into nerding out on forecast data go here:
https://kachelmannwetter.com/de/mode...110-0000z.html
Click on desired time frame ( 120h for five days out) and compare all the models directly.
More than 5 days is absolute nonsense. EU is usually best. Canadians Brits and germans ( gem, UK, icon) give you the most precip.I use a mix of US and EU.
If you see huge differences you know the pattern is very uncertain.
Here you can see akkumulated precip range going out to maximum model range
https://kachelmannwetter.com/de/vorh...erschlagssumme
Example: range up to Saturday is 12 to 75mm (roughly 1mm is one cm of snow as you know)so not really clear what will happen.
Conclusion: go as far south as possible like Sportgastein. There may be snow from the south.
And don't miss the powder alert from powder guide. ,[emoji16] Next one coming tonight. But it's for the south.

Yeah, I usually take off at least a 3rd off local pericp levels (if not halve it) that geosphere predicts. And if its a percip forecast after a local föhn situation, more often than not it it arrives a day later than the initial earliest 5 day forecast. But I don't think Salzburg area is effected much by föhn? Please correct me if I'm wrong on that, I have not spent enough time in the mountains out that way.
Good to have the weather forecast, good or bad. What I actually meant to type was avalanche forecast, but somehow that became "attend" forecast in my original post. Lol
The link @subtle_plague gave me in his first reply seems good for that.
Out the door now for one last day of work, then on the plane tomorrow!
new powderalert is out: Its more of a teaser for the rest of the week because the south did not have snow before this alert so this alert not really usable. But still read it to make me unfathombly rich and for the meat loaf song quotes!

happy new year mags. looking for some beta for early-mid feb. i am looking to avoid the french alps at that time due to french holidays and my eyes have wandered over to klosters. i have heard good things but when i take a deeper look between klosters and davos, it looks like a bunch of mountains that are not connected. Would love some beta on the overall experience. snow/crowds/ability to navigate from mountain to mountain easily? seems like a relative snow magnet zone in most years. thinking of basing myself in klosters for 10 days and wanted to see if this is a good zone to land. mostly looking for advanced terrain, some slack country, trees, and just some fun riding without it being mobbed up with people. thoughts on the area and which mountain in that area do you think is worth a visit. thanks!
I spend a lot of time in Klosters.
1) Generally-speaking, it isn’t worth going from one mountain to another intraday. But each mountain has enough to fill a day. They are all quite accessible from Klosters, although Rinerhorn is a bit of a schlepp.
2) In good snow, the area is an awesome playground. Lots of pistes (but nothing I would really call advanced), lots of off piste (nice mix of meadow skipping to steeps, especially if willing to hike a little), and great touring. The trees on Parsenn/Gotschna north side and on Rinerhorn are awesome for storm-skiing pow.
3) When there are no holidays, the place is empty, and it is awesome. During holidays, it is one of the big Graubunden resorts and fills up. That said, lines/crowds tend to be manageable. Check how your dates coincide with Swiss school holidays (you probably want to avoid Zurich school holiday week, the others are usually fine).
4) I love the area. That said, our snow is currently pretty shit. A lot of snow on Parsenn got blown off. I found good snow touring between Xmas and NYE (Gatschiefer and Isentalli from Fluela Pass). Trees are currently no good. And we just had a massive warming with a bit of snow to cover up the shit coming this week. Keep an eye on weather to see if we get topped up.
It’s sure been an interesting winter so far. Up high has lost 50+cm of snow since the Christmas storms. Mid elevations are also pretty low tide. The snow guns have been productive so the piste is pretty bomber right now. I’m sure it’ll snow soon as I leave next week for a month and it usually turns on when I’m away.
Anyone in Zermatt keen to split an off piste guide on Saturday? Groomer skiing with the wife has finally got to me.
new powder alert. En Anglais!
Bottom line: I have no idea whats going to happen, but trust me! It's gonna snow!
no i do kinda know, but its really complicated this time. Valais and france should see decent flakage.
