Topwater that’s amazing! Super cool you got to be a part of and witness that.
Been getting out again….much needed head clearing….

Finished my first 50. A perfect day really, the leaves were going off. Im sore and happy
Congrats, d00d!
And on what looked like a challenging course.
Pretty satisfying, eh?
Your dog just ate an avocado!
Nice work!
Thanks guys, super satisfying! So impressed with how fast some people can run these distances as well.
Time to start thinking about the 2025 schedule [emoji16]
Best thing I did for myself was put some big events on the calendar in January. No family surprises and kept me in “preparation” mode all year long. 2024 was a stellar year.
Next month, my daughter is running in the Moab 1/2 marathon. Should be a fun event. Hope to see some mags in town.

Way to go Dude! Super stoked for ya!
Yep, turns out that was a result of not recovering long enough after 4 days of bikepacking the Colorado trail. I felt so good after that effort (I’ve been MTB way longer than running) that I figured I could just jump right into running training. Couple more days of rest and the cramping/pain disappeared. Im learning something new every time I go out and do something big (for me anyway).
Fueling was a concern being new to this as well, but got some good advice from experienced friends and set a 30 minute reminder to eat. Gels, waffles, homemade “tailwind” and aid station soda/chips was the menu. No bonking/eating issues which I was super pleased with. Though the last couple hours were “force feeding” and more emphasis on liquid nutrition.
Gotta figure out blister management, integrate some weight training and a few more longer runs in the training cycle were my main takeaways. Im slow and likely always will be, but it’s fun to figure out incremental improvements.
Two things... I finally cobbled together this 13.1 mile loop criss -crossing around the ski hill with 5900 vert. It was pretty fun trying to use every trail possible. And its funny as I literally built all these trails for DH biking 10 years ago, now I don't bike at all and it turns out they make pretty good mountain running trails!
And also.... I'm looking to fill a couple spots in my inaugural Truth Run Hawaii beta-test group Nov 2-9. This is FREE outside of your own airfare. Basically I'll pick you up at airport and we stay at my place that I just finished building, (5 rooms, 2.5 bath, 2min bike from the water).
Drive you around, feed you, drag you across hot lava hellscapes in the name of Ultra race preparation!
I figure we will get up 75 - 100 miles over the week but I designed the routes as out and backs for the most part and the days running will be broken into different sections so people can bail on a run if not feeling it. Ample opportunity optional for vert and amazing swimming out on these routes!
Top the week off with a 4 x 4 x 24 and then on the 9th is the Kona Half Marathon. I know, I know you typically don't want to crush your self leading into a race but trying to mimic the whole 'running on tired legs' thing. And this race is awesome (and optional) and happens to coincide with this trip.
The objective of the trip is to get solid feedback on routes, meal prep, create some content for launching the real deal which will be $3000/wk....

I have 3 people lined up but can go up to 8 depending on who is sharing room or not split between two vehicles... Me plus 5 would be optimal.
yes it might be a shitshow, yes you will sweat your body weight over the week and make memories for a lifetime!
Go check out the website, has a bunch of videos of the area in town of Milolii, South Captain Cook district.
I pulled my back not long after a jog a week or two ago (technically I was biking to school when I did it, but it felt tight after the run to an extent that multiple consecutive days of mountain biking hadn't). I went to physical therapy last week and found that I have a functional difference in leg length due to hip tightness and so pelvic tilt on my right side (where I always have issues).
I'm actually pretty excited to learn this as for the last few years I've had a hard time building up my running distances without things in my lower body going out of whack, while I haven't had nearly as much trouble with biking and ball sports where I'm not taking consistent strides. I'm hoping that some PT will rectify the issue and make me more able to enjoy running right as it becomes really nice out here. I've been watching all your guys' posts with envy.
This actually sounds amazing! I would do this in a heartbeat but I start a new job on the 4th and I'm already taking most of October off so my wife would kill me if I pushed it further.
Look to see more from me in Oct. Had a few great ones this last week again. A couple local Seattle runs and a 12mi 5k one in the Tatoosh near Rainier. This week I'll get 3 in with the Enchantments on Friday. Woot!![]()
Awe come on she will get over it! Lol.
Pancakes, fresh fruit smoothie and local coffee every morning as we make plans for the day
Light lunch along the way as we alternate between running in stunning scenery and quick swims to cool off of course
Late after noon siesta and final optional climb up from the house 1400ft over 5k just to make sure you are truly toasted
Barbque chicken, pork or steak every night with some rice or quinoa and some roasted vegetables and maybe some sort of ice cream to top it off. Pass out by 8pm, up at 6 do it again...
I know at least one of you is gonna jump at this! what is it $500 round trip from LA? no brainer!
That sounds pretty awesome. If only my shoulder was healthy.
Dang phatty nice shots! The mountain in the foreground of the last one almost looks like a painting.
Eyeing a high alpine loop for this weekend. Probably last of the year.
It’s amazing how much better I feel when I get out running. I also start a new job tomorrow, and had a week off in between that I really tried to maximize. Gotta keep it going.
Love those breaks with no responsibilities! Got to take advantage of them.
Ski silent/deep, forgot to mention those fall Wasatch shots [emoji7] Dreamy trails thru that. Unfortunately my Utah trip is likely too late to get any colors. Trying to get as much as I can here in WA.
Stapes - the toughest part of this time of year is losing the high alpine. It's the price we pay to get back on skis soon.

Quick one yesterday. 8.5mi and 3500ft at Bandera Mountain. This is my favorite time of year for trail running. Dark thru the trees and sun rising just as I get above tree line. Trails are in awesome shape right now.![]()
Love those misty mountains. What time are you heading out the door?

Have spent the last four months, getting healthy and back into shape. Quit the daily drinking. Actually worked on core strength and some weights. Playing in the mountains, fast packing makes it so worth it. Three big overnight running trips in the unexplored mountains north of Revelstoke provided memories I’ll never forget.
Loving all the pictures stories and race reports here. Great motivation.
