Oh Abasin is down to just 38 open runs and has had just 258 inches on the year.

4"+ rain east of boulder since Tuesday evening where I am at. Crazy rain.
Kicking it old school today![]()
Took a chance on ABasin today and struck out. Power is out, crowded, no steep terrain open, lenawee loading every third chair on diesel.
I guess I should have been expected it.
I think steep terrain in the BC is going to take a few days to settle. Pretty big slides on many slopes in the new snow because it’s so heavy.
Still at ABasin
Looks like BMX is back online
Len still skipping 2 chairs
Weird power outage for sure , but props to them for running chairs on gens
Now they are loading lenawee 3 to a chair every third chair (1/6 capacity). I think it’s time to call it quits…
Skiing is pretty nice though.
Long live spring![]()
Haven't seen this posted anywhere but holy shit is this gripping. Can believe the duder walked away w/o injury

yeah the basin was okay, surprised they couldn't even get the tiny powder keg gate open or anything. Oh well, at least I got two beers on tap at 6th alley before the power was fully out again and they started only selling cans of coors haha
We talked about that upthread. Such a crazy scary video. That moment where he screams “fuck” as he’s falling backward is gut wrenching…knowing there’s thousands of feet of cliff bands below you and no way to stop…terrifying. Free falling down the Deadly Bells and walking away is so dam lucky.
It was an interesting day for sure, lots of operational challenges. They took cell phone pics of everyone's passes this morning since none of the scanners were working. I'd hate to be that guy who has to manually enter them all for reconciliation.
First couple laps this am were ski by braille. Still...May 12th moist pow, can't complain.

Wife got a new job not with Vail and I lost my dependent pass for the rest of the season. haha I'll find a comp from a friend for closing day but otherwise the basin it is. I'd love to still be skiing breck, the May skiing there the last couple years here has been so fun.
Breck was fun yesterday for sure, cream cheese as mentioned above. Glad we didn't go to A Basin by the sounds of it, especially since I would have needed to buy a ticket. I'm pretty sure the last time I skied Breck I was 16 or 17, at a downhill race.
I was holding out hope for the East Wall, but it was all sluffed out. Stick a fork in it!
Pali / Beavers close tomorrow.
Anyone ski MJ recently? Heading up now for tomorrow skiing.
Was at MJ today. Plenty of coverage. All MJ plus pano open except for trestle. Snow was heavy but bumps were great, especially where they’d been skied and cement broken up. Mostly cloudy today. Still, started getting pretty slow down low by 1 ish. Should be fun tmrw. Hopefully not too cold or clear tonight. If so, don’t rush for first chair!
Aren't bumps God's way of telling you that the line has been skied?

Thanks for the TR tang. Warm up in WP today. 45 deg already!
Introduced my kid to the joy of skiing and biking in the same day. She’s hooked!
Are Breck and MJ keeping steep terrain open? From the looks of it, Breck still has six senses open according to the website, which is pretty cool. Is that for real?
It kind of sucks how conservative the basin has become (I totally understand why), but it’s super interesting to see the different philosophies on the wet slide risk across different resorts.
FWIW I'll be camping and skiing Indy Pass when it's open if anyone want's to meet up for car shuttle.
Nights are warming up - still getting enough freeze up high for midmorning corn or are things getting punchy?
WTF is up with this daily rain?
I moved to CO to get away from this kind of weather.
