When I first read the details, I thought no way they save the leg. Glad to be wrong.

Natural wet slide in the Sisters went across loveland pass road yesterday at 5:15pm. Good indicator when N facing aspects that are avy controlled all winter are going natural that it might be a good time to stay off those slopes for a bit.

Not sure how closely ASF is monitoring this thread, but his gf Lindsey set up a GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/ryan-lind...-recovery-fund

    Hey,

I really appreciate you posting that up auvgeek. It is hard to ask for help in these situations. But when it comes down to it I am a ski tech who moonlights as a retail salesman and needs side carpentry gigs to keep me a float in perfect times. Anything helps here and I'm just grateful to still be alive and have the ability to ask my community for help.

Good luck with recovery and don't hesitate to post up what you need other than the cash assistance. Also don't be afraid to bump the gofundme once your bills start coming in.

Anyone see this dude’s fall off of South Maroon Peak? Holy fuck! Imagine the panic knowing you’re in a free fall with thousands of feet of cliff bands are below you. He really lucked out.

^JFC!! I listened to that podcast episode and given his lack of injuries I did not anticipate that violent of a fall! He's a lucky dude and I'm impressed with his willingness to share that experience.

What the fuck. That’s crazy footage.

I guess I know that freefall feeling too. He’s a lucky guy to walk away from that.

The gofundme and the story have kind of blown up. Denver7 had a story last night (which turned out okay, they said some weird factually incorrect stuff about avalanches) and I did an interview with Good Morning America this afternoon. That will air tomorrow morning apparently.

This whole experience has been crazy. I’m trying to embrace that I have a good story to tell but damn it y’all I’m just a dude who was trying to go ski.

Appreciate anything y’all have donated or otherwise. It really means the world to me.

I’m impressed too. That is the stuff of nightmares. Also, imagine the horror his partners felt as they watched him initially fall back and then plummet out of sight [emoji33]

Six months gives you lots of time to learn new things. Could be a blessing in disguise to do those things you never have time (or park your ass and make the time) to check out or pursue. Hang in there!

(As an aside, there's clearly some Chris George, in Tyler.)

Just watched that south maroon video, terrifying, that's a dangerous part of the mountain, I dropped my ski transitioning in that same spot many years ago, luckily it perched right above the cliffs and I was able to retrieve it.

That South Maroon Peak fall is insane. Even knowing he was ok before watching it, I was gripped.
