Eighties these past few days in Denver. It’s amazing out but way too hot for mid April.

I'm out in the garden putzing around, the snow is gone and the soil is melted maybe 6" down. It's nice.

Was it really that poor of a season for you guys down there? Seems like you’ve had some real good stretches.Originally Posted by goldenboy;[emoji[emoji6[emoji640
There was a huge difference between North and South.
Copper got hammered early and often.
Aspen was just on the line, but we had a really good season. The last week's been incredible. Highlands closer will be fun, no matter what.
Monday, we'll just have to see?
God bless women who ski in bikini tops

I'm still getting some turns in but its starting to slow down a bit for me as I transition back into my summer work scheduleanyone know how the ifsa challenger stop at abasin works? I see a range of dates and assume its a weather window? also wondering when they announce the comp day then whether skiing and snowboarding takes place on the same day? would be cool to try to get up there to catch some of it
Its been a good run around here. I'm surprised with how well the snow has been holding up given 60s at 9k. Bring on more snow and more sun. I'm sure Team Flip Flops will be grumpy AF beginning tomorrow. I've had great pow days in May. Interesting to see the BP Snotel lose 2" of SWE in 5 days and regress to mean.

RE: CB, I had a good season, but I was in Canada for 2wks during a rough stretch in January. Skied and braap'd some pow. Not a ton, but enough. I thought the mountain skied surprisingly well most of the year but I average about 10-15 days/yr there. Backcountry never recovered from early season damage done so options were more limited than I've experienced for sure. Mtns are currently still white hoping for some colder temps. Everybody hates the relentlessly positive guy but after some big shakeups I find myself more capable and willing to be that guy. It ain't bad.
Mountain biking in the desert this weekend, almost too hot. Got a nice sunburn to start the "Base". I'm ruined for winter, unless it gets significantly better. More of the best terrain is closing down, and fast. Time to get the moto running and start making more trips out west for desert season. Looking forward to it for sure.
Already soft on Ajax. Should be good till Friday.
Then who knows?
storm looking a bit stronger for the summit county area at the moment. The snow is interesting right now with it getting sloppy in areas and not really softening up in others. Those real warm days without freezes haven't been great for us. I will say the pali bumps are at least consistent and ski pretty well.went and watched the challenger series comp for a bit on the east wall and it was pretty cool to see these skiers absolutely sending in ways I'd certainly never think to or want to ski that terrain, snow looked decently chalky up there and then just more firm through land of giants but still some cool sends through there.
Pretty cool the FWT is going on at A-Basin this week. Amazing to see.
Re CB: It's been hard to post on this old forum lately, but yeah, I'm still saying this is one of the worst winters in CB in the twenty five plus years I've been in CB, despite North's positivity. Up until March, there were really only three storms at Thanksgiving, New year's, and Valentine's, with dry spells in between and some really cold and also really warm weather too. The snowpack was pretty fucked, and at one point it was considerable for over three weeks. Now the snowpack is at like sixty five percent of normal here, and I just skied up near Irwin and there was dirt everywhere. It was like late May last season. The word everyone keeps using is strange, it was just a strange year for sure. Hopefully it snows this weekend.
Headed to Opus Hut next week, first time. Anyone got beta on where to ski or recent conditions (very little snow I imagine?)?

Road is plowed to the hut, but I think they are still making folks walk in from 550, I'd check with the hut keeps about that. Above 11.5k still has good coverage, but thin for sure. Norths were still skiing well as of Wednesday, but the heat and sun has worked it pretty good. Hot pow and corn on the few sunny slopes that still have full coverage. Weird season, but you should still find some good snow.
Oh here we are!
I'm done skiing, already got on the bike a couple of time. Obsessed with my garden.

Front Range still has nice, thick coverage.
