Are the aspens skiers left?
Generally yes but we don't talk about VR Trees. We are on our 2nd mudseason at my house at 8400. But the fucking off in the snow has been great and it will be great again. I bounce to Colombia tonight so hopefully the high pressure follows me and I can leave the planet for a while.
Last week was nice but now we are back to "What winter?" mode. Gunna set heat records this week. Town is melting out again. Having half a dozen mud season's a winter is gunna be rough moving forward.
N facing in the alpine is still holding strong. East Wall has been tits. Not losing a ton of snow on the mountains around Summit yet. Winds have kept it pretty cool. Would love to see a few more rounds of snow though. Debating a desert trip next weekend though. 70F is enticing for the braaap machine.
You know it. It will be like this without the Summer Camp Vibes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOI3wW6xK_s&t=7s Usually, I kinda dirtbag is and travel around but this year we got a baller finca with a pool in Piedechinche for 10 days.

Yeah wind is being nice up high so far, still some great skiing. Friends booked a fruita desert camp spot for the weekend, I'm about it

60s in Denver two weeks ago, then a real winter week last week, now back to 60s/70 this whole week, in Feb. New normal I guess.
January thaw or is winter over
Debating my weekend plans. Drive west for 70F desert dirtbiking or hike the East Wall in a tshirt?
Looks like snow is back all next week.
east wall season starts tomorrow for me. 2 maybe 3 hikes. 2 maybe 3 beers.
summit is way too quiet for a fryday everyone gave up on ski season already?
Quite fun skiing corn snow on my birthday. Getting me psyched for spring and summer, meanwhile back to winter
42ºF at 9k' right now. Roads are gonna get schloppy if this thing really produces. I know you kids like em schloppy!
not bad skiin today in the right spots
Spicy ride home from DIA last night after being in Ketchum visiting a friend and skiing. Had a cold come on hard and fast while traveling yesterday and couldn’t get out of bed this morning to go ski it. Was very heavy to shovel just a bit ago after letting it just sit there all day
crust got buried pretty well with the snow overnight, and super minimal crowds. great day
Copper is skiing so well right now. Another sixteen inches over the past two days. Heavier powder from this storm system vs two weeks ago but at least it was very surfy.
Anyone know what weak layer they're talking about in the forecast? I would have thought facets on sun crust but they're saying north aspects? Surface hoar or facets on meltfreeze maybe? Pretty odd to get a weak layer just below a storm layer on north facing this time of year. I wish the forecast provided a bit more detail. I used to know all this by being out there so much haha, kids man.
Nevermind, looks like SIGNIFICANT faceting of a large chunk of the upper pack. Wild.
Anyone have discount tix to Keystone? I can trade $49 Aspen Snowmass tix. PM ME
