Never tipped. Didn't even cross my mind. Am I supposed to?
Funny thing about that one is while I don't believe it's expected, it's just something I've always done. When I see those guys busting their backs to drag in a hudge appliance in triple degree heat, I always felt it was nice to give 'em some burger money. They always seem a bit surprised and always super stoked. I don't think it's standard so don't feel bad if you haven't done it before.

Should I be tipping my mail person too?

I think it's generally accepted to tip mail delivery folks around the holidays. And the folks that pick up your refuse.

I delivered furniture and appliances in my youth and as an adult I always tip them because it's a tough enough job for an 18 year old. Couldn't imagine doing it at 35.

Seriously never knew this was a thing.

Should I tip FedEx and UPS too?

Growing up the only people you tipped were hotel & food service workers and taxi drivers. Maybe the Skycap.

My trash company pays its pickup drivers quite well thank you very much. Fuck that. Same with Fed-Ex and UPS.

Furniture moving is hard. That is why they get paid.

I'm just passing along that it's fairly "standard" operating procedure to tip those folks around the holidays.

I tried once, but nobody ever cashed the checks, so I don't any more...

And I am a subcontractor and I have gotten exactly 1 tip in my career. But it was a Big Sky Gold Pass.

ETA: should I tip my PA? She is HAF so there is that.

And while I have the subject up for the collective. I have been 2x a week in PT since March, the 2 PTs have been freaking awesome. I would like to show my appreciation some way besides just getting my shoulder back to 95%.

I was thinking of something all the PTs and the office staff could enjoy, fruit basket???

Hey, we wouldn't want to cut into the leaderships profits or pay structure by paying people a decent wage.

If you guys could just tack on 20% to any price we have posted that'd be great.

Fun fact: your USPS mail carrier is a public employee and cannot accept gifts over $20 without breaking the law.

Mine are privately contracted and better paid, which is why they don't suck like the local PO.

so I goto a resturant and get the tab after I'm done eating or I'm lucky enough to notice in the smallest of small print at the bottom of the menu that they disclose the 20% mark up to the bill on top of the state tax and tip

    WTF?

Raise your fucking prices don't just stick it on and call it "happy workers charge" fuck that noise

Back when we had a regular UPS guy, with whom we were on a first name basis, and not just at my front door, but if I ran into him around town, then yes. But not for each delivery. We gave him a Christmas card with some cash in it.

These days, it changes so often, and the service is so bad, so no.

Same here and our mail route is like something out of Mad Max. Picture a line of mailboxes just off the edge of asphalt on the side of a 55 MPH 2 lane heavy traffic highway.

On 2nd thought I will get Peggy something nice for the holidays, she is also a sub-contractor.

In the summer if I happen to be outside when the delivery arrives I'll usually offer them something cold from the garage fridge.

We put out this bucket during the holiday delivery season.
