I was married to Andrew's father for over 25 yrs, god rest his soul. I think what kept us together was a mutual fondness for the simple things in life, laughter, and the occasional martini . He had quite the sense of humor, something he passed on to Andrew. "Nubs," as we used to call him because he lost part of his pinkie finger in a boating accident, used to shake the kids' hands and then hold up his hand and say "Hey, I think you stole part of my finger!" The kids would then look at their hand to see if the finger was there and he'd give them a poke on the shoulder with his other hand, open it and say "I found it!"

What you fail to figure out is that despite this being a public message board, I am trying to deliver different messages to different people. This thread was meant for the assholes who blame women for all the evil that goes on in divorce. There are a number of them posting over on the Tammy Wynette thread. Those folks need the obvious to be restated.

There are also a bunch of folks who deserve some unconditional support. I try to give that where I can and have been able to do so on many occasions. I just don't always do it in public.

Finally, I do take my own advice. If you read my post and didn't think I was talking about myself, just as much as I was talking about others, then your empathy skills just had a hiccup. If you read "you are annoying, you piss people off, etc." and didn't realize that when I said "you" I meant every last one of us, including myself, then that was a communication failure, not a failure of character.

And to people (*4matic) who keep calling me (and now my wife) "fat," you've got some serious issues if you equate body shape to human worth.

It's funny that you guys will discuss almost anything, as long as it's about someone else. But my posts that largely attempt to force us all to stare into a mirror showing our ugliest sides result in so much vitriol.

Because "alias#?" and "anonalias" and other people who find themselves right in the middle of a divorce don't need this advice. If they're already there, they need to get through the divorce and move on. This thread is for people at a different point in the relationship.
