There were definitely guns set up and ready to blow yesterday and the groomers had been out packing down the natural stuff so I wouldn't be surprised if they're making some. If temps stay low enough all week maybe they'll open next weekend??

^^^ They were grooming the entirety of Rime on Saturday morning. They also started in on the top blue square section of Double Dipper.

isn't it better for longevity of the snowpack if the ground freezes first, then have the insulating layer of snow on top...or maybe it doesnt matter.

Ahh yess, the Backseat shot! At one point I was too far forward and one ski came up with the topsheet covered in mud and leaves. It was a balancing act!

I felt pretty guilty on the ride home about leaving so early Sunday am! Sign me up for extended cleanup next year! I hope TC shook everyone down for a contribution of some sort(cash, food or hard labor)!

I thought I saw snow making clouds on the cam this morning. Weather looks good for the week, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to open this weekend. I have zero actual knowledge of anything official so I'm not trying to start any rumors. But I'm thinking they wanna be first this year...with that new walkway from triple to the peak and all.

Awesome time BD as usual thanks again for everything.

I collected as many funds as I could but if you did not have a chance to see me it would be great if you send $20 each at least to help. I will get BD's paypal info/address.

    Thanks all

I definitely left in a hurry and completely forgot to give BD some $$. The morning after safety meeting made me a bit forgetful. Paypal info would be awesome.

    Crustiness at Jay Peak

Hiked to the Jay summit today with the dog, via the Long Trail. There is snow up there but it was hardpack crust, glad I did not lug skis up. There were a bunch of frozen tracks on the Vermonter and someone had obviously used a toboggan. Had a pleasant lunch in the Sky Haus with two other hikers and Ellen the Tram Driver, then hiked back down.

Jay is definitely construction junction. I could not even drive into Stateside parking lot - "restricted access!"

I'll put more pics on my blog later. Running out of battery and the Montgomery library closes soon.

The snow is rock hard, with frozen tracks. Nice views though.

Pumphouse needs a little more snow

    K-Mart Saturday

Haven't posted here in a long time as I was in Europe last winter, but pumped to be back! Skinned up K-Mart on saturday around 8:30am, I'm sure everyone has been updated on conditions but there was definitely around 2 feet at the summit, made some good turns around powerline and then everyone got real heavy and thick around royal flush.

There were a bunch of cats getting to work and few lifties said that they were shooting to open monday or tuesday (obviously monday hasn't happened), but there were a lot of guns in place to make snow.

Few shots from the day -

    Reaching near summit

    Better late than never

Props to all I ran into up there. The place was crawling with maggots getting the early goods. laseranimal was a real animal, laying tracks on Friday, sleeping in the lot & heading up again at 6am for more October chowdah. Sweet POV footage, LA!

Flat light, fine mist/snow coming down, point 'n' shoot Canon with a sticking lens cover and incredible snow. I'll take that combo any day.

Laser - My guess is that you just got a mention on Powder Mag's website:

    http://www.powdermag.com/features/ne...rns-of-season/

Tittyballs! (If memory serves me correctly, it was actually DoWork and Arewolfe that coined the phrase?)

Three days of incredible skiing are now complete. Thank you ULLR! (and Lionel... and BigDaddy... and EVERYONE who bought a calendar!)

    here's the result:

    hope you enjoy...

if you didn't get the ULLRfest calendars that you ordered at the party, i'll be in touch in the next few days... it has been absolutely INSANE since last friday. I'll get you what you bought, but we'll have to figure out how to do some shipping. I already lost too much money on them as it is... the party was worth it, but i'm feeling poor now :/

There was six inches of snow in the lot at the K-1 gondola where we parked. Within a few minutes, we were stomping through the plowed snow at the edge of the parking lot. We made our way to the boot pack which rose up the side of one of the trails. A skier raced by us as we started our hike and when we shouted at him to ask how the skiing was, he responded enthusiastically, “tittyballs.” Now, we weren’t familiar with that adjective, but judging by the smile on his face, it meant pretty darn good.

I just laughed my tittyballs off... They actually used that shit in PowMag, how fucking awesome.

Awesome work Laser, you're a fuckin' animal! Now if only I coulda gotten the time off on Friday...

Though I wish I could, I definitely cannot claim coinage on Tittyballs. The first time I heard it was big Wednesday at Magic and it came out of TC and DoWork's mouths.

    EDIT: photos removed. too hyoodge.

The gnar level is def. low,
but these junkboards were fun to make/ride.
Four great runs over three days on homemades
in October is plenty gnar for me.
Conditions in S. VT ranged from pow>firm>thin>grass>mud
Gnar is where you find it
