I lived in a shared house post-college where someone started putting the produce stickers on the backsplash behind the sink. Then we all started doing it. By the time we moved out, it was multiple layers deep. Kids are weird.

I have a lump in my balls and need an ultrasound. Obviously I will need to pay off some people for a referral and jump through a bunch of hoops first before I finally get to that point in a couple months, but FUCK is it annoying. 2 hours on hold. Bitch triage nurse pissed at me for someone transferring me to them. Still no appointment.

Do you have an HMO or some plan that requires a referral? If not, skip it and go right to a specialist.

I worked with a girl who had a phobia of those stickers. Id bring an apple and banana for lunch often and would always put the stickers on my tupperware sandwich box, where they would accumulate. First day I worked with this girl she saw it and almost had a meltdown. Had to put them in a garbage can out of sight of the room we were working in. Even seeing them in the garbage was too much. Weirdest thing Ive witnessed....

I work at the fucking hospital and thought I had 'good' insurance. I called urology directly an they told me to call the PCP since I have never been a patient in their clinic.

Is there really such thing as "Good" insurance anymore? I pay $650 a month for shitty insurance right now. My current deductible is over $8K and that costs me $650 a month? That's more than my rent used to be back in my 20's. And I'm a healthy, albeit somewhat accident prone, middle aged male. This country's healthcare system is so FUBAR it really is just comical. They are still sending me bills from 2 years ago for a surgery that I had and took place well after my deductible and max out of pocket were met, I'm sure it was "Out of Network" even though it was an Xray taken in the same facility. Fuckers!

Yeah, I don't expect healthcare to get any better either. Bitchy nurses and staff that don't really want to be there. Shitty patients with entitlement and routinely being told the wrong reason why they are having scans done by the ordering physicians (mostly to placate the patients I think). When you apply 15 minutes per patient to be seen, yeah, looks good on paper, but in the real world it doesn't work like that. No wonder why patients are frustrated and why healthcare providers are burning out fast.

As for insurance coverage, it's almost a push to just pay out of pocket for services rendered instead of dealing with all the bullshit hoops that "insurance" makes patients jump through. Some places even offer a cash discount. The insurance business in healthcare sure is a fucked up racket.

If you had services provided in an "in network" facility, then all services are considered in-network. That out-of-network billing is illegal in CO. I have not had this problem recently, but in the past when these billing companies did this (particularly anesthesia provider), I sent them a copy of the state regulation in the payment envelope instead of a check. That always ended the billing issue.

@Garb, can you work your relationship with the hospital? Show up in person and try to schedule? I have run into practices whose front desk staff are adamant about referrals but persistence usually gets me scheduled. Doesn't always work but maybe worth a shot.

Samsung Galaxy S24 onscreen fingerprint reader. Even with an explicitly compatible glass screen protector, it does not like to read my right Thumb. I redo it frequently. And it takes a lot of tries to get it to register each time. Part of the problem is I want to register it in the same angle I hold my phone to unlock and right-hand thumb smash. It just doesn't like that angle on the right. The left works better. The Google and Moto phones I have had with a dedicated print reader all worked a lot better. And the Motos were cheap. This is a flagship(?) phone. Why do i feel like all products these days are beta versions and we're just testers who have to pay for the privilege???

Evdog--how did she feel about chemtrails.Speaking of conspiracy theories--per 60 Minutes, all those drone sightings are likely Chinese spy drones, coming in from freighters under the radar and mostly hovering around military bases and other critical sites. Military is working on better ways to detect them early and to take them down without risk of civilian casualties. This according to the previous and current commanders of NORAD, who apparently have been too busy tracking Santa Claus to pay attention until now.

When your headlights randomly stop working and you pull into a roadside parking area that is well lit so you can check things out and get harassed by questionable characters so you leave and slam a couple of potholes because it is pouring rain and you only have fog lights or brights and you wreck a tire it is annoying. Worse is when you have to spend 12+ hours (so far) sitting on the side of a Rt17 exit ramp in the mud as it transitions from heavy rain to snow. Thankfully there's what looks like a pretty good shop a few hundred yards away and the owner answered his phone at 9:30pm so there is hope... He said he will be here in a few minutes.

WTF is with DMV offices operating by appointment only? I understood during covid but it's still that way. I finally got the paperwork I need to title my new to me car and can't get an appointment before the temp plates expire. That means I have to stop working for a few days. Pain in the ass...

Holy shit, thank god for DMV appointments. The last few times I have gone I breezed by a 20 person deep line of people who just showed up.

What you should be pissed about is that doing a temp plates extension even requires an in person visit. This should be a couple button clicks on a website and they get mailed to you.

I don't know if this is just a east coast thing but the reliance on physical paper to get anything done (kids school paperwork, jobs, DMV) is insane. If you need me to phyically present ID at least let me submit the paperwork in advance and then just show up for a few minutes instead of watching you input information into your system.

Only our DL office requires an appt these days. DMV is usually easy, but I was annoyed that I had to actually go there and show proof of insurance on my work van that is 17 years old and has been registered without having to show insurance for many years. Not sure why. Oh well, our DMV ladies have always been super nice for some reason.
