Maybe I missed it, but I didnt' see a 2023 thread. Anyway, what in the actual fuck?
PGA Tour agrees to merge with LIV Golf.

Said one PGA Tour player reached by ESPN on Tuesday, "No f---ing way."
No shit, no fucking way. My initial reaction is that the PGA kinda hung guys like Rory out there to fight the good fight against LIV and then said in the end, "welp, there's a fuck ton of money to be made here. Maybe these aren't the worst people in the world after all?"

It's wild to me how they kept this (whatever this is) quiet. Monahan and the Saudi PIF guy and the DP World Tour guy were all ready to go when CNBC broke the news.
Phil and Brandel Chamblee were going at it in real time and setting up a tbd debate just days ago.
ESPN had no clue, Golf Channel had no clue.
Phil and Brooks are taking victory laps.

I have to feel that the PGA Tour players who stayed loyal were completely blindsided by this and likely feel like they've been punched in the gut.
Can't wait to hear takes from Tiger, Rory, Jack and everyone else that stuck their necks out on this split in the past year.I still call it The Jake.

Honestly I found the LIV product unwatchable when it was on TV in the clubhouse. Like a Nascar feed on the left with zero flow or tension cause everyone's on the same hole for the day. Jumbled mess.I still call it The Jake.

Here's a crazy thought: let's all STFU with our uninformed opinions until the actual details come out? While a lot of PGA players definitely feel blindsided, if you don't think they're going to be heavily compensated to balance things out you're crazy. Jay Monahan knows he wouldn't last a day longer in his job.
As a viewer I'm fine with this - having LIV bullshit (which has been unwatchable) and diluted PGA fields has kind of sucked this season. While the Saudi money always felt gross, I understood it, I just drew the line at the players who were literally spouting Saudi propaganda. Fuck those guys (DJ, Cam Smith, Brooks never did for the record).
