god damn it, Atomic, can you fix your loc-tite already? walk-modes previously falling off, now buckles? barely lost my buckle walking from a car to the lift
Well, they did. It's BOA
@Zomblibula - yes, in warmer conditions the boot does not turn into a marshmallow. This is also touched upon in Blister's flash review. Jonathan was able to test the boot in some pretty cold temps and pretty warm temps and confirms this.
Re: thread lock - this is an ongoing battle for us, no easy solution when it comes to production/assembly. I share your frustration because screwed hardware does eventually rattle loose (same on my bikes). I find that certain screws are more problematic than others, which is weird. What I do to solve it is use white plumber's teflon tape. Wrap the threads one time and I have yet to have the same screw come loose. Same for my lower shock mount bolt that was driving me crazy on my dh bike. Teflon tape seems to solve all of it for me.
With some grinding and stretching is it even remotely possible to fit my 28.9 and 28.6 feet into a 27.5 Remedy? And yes, this is how my feet measure with a footbed. My longer foot will creep over 29cm whenever I pronate it heavily.
Currently in a 28.5 Ultra XTD Boa -- no toe work, but punches on 1st and 5th met heads.
Instep perimeter measures 27.5 -- hence why I would like to size down if possible.
You'll most likely have to do the same things to the Remedy that you had to do to your Hawx Ultra XTD. I've been getting "Prime" feet into Remedy with some work but nothing crazy.
More so worried about the length than the width. Ive never been in a 27.5 boot, but the ability to grind and then punch afterwards makes me more hopeful I can make it work.
The Remedy is legit. Skied it for the first time last night in below zero temps. Flex felt the same in the shop as outside, ski wise for the limited runs I got to do they seemed locked in and let me do what I wanted. Heated the liners so far, need to do a little more work, possibly punch below the instep buckle.

Stoked you dig it. The plastic is really nice to work with, so whatever customization you need to do, it's easy to get it there.</p>
anyone got a cheap gnar bar they want to part with? Don't feel like shelling out $65 for two chunks of metal
pm me.
Save your money and buy a real boot

Might be a cuff alignment issues right now putting undo pressure on the outside of my foot. Play around tonight, have all day in them Sunday.
I will add, the Butter color looks way better in person that pics. A ton of people complimented the color.
@onenerdykid How's the difference in feel between the formula and the traditional PU? I heard you and Jonathan mention it on Gear:30, but not get into the details.
It feels like a PU-ether. Jonathan thinks it feels slightly different, not better, not worse- just different. Which is honestly the case if we were to test 3 or 4 PU-ethers. You feel slight differences, but they all have the damp, smooth qualities that PU-ether is known for.
Just popping in to say this thread is great. Thanks to ONK for sharing all this knowledge with the forum, it really is helpful (and I may or may not have bought Atomic's for my last 3 boots based on lurking knowledge gained here...).
Appreciate it! Just trying to get more facts & more clarity out there.
Thanks for the service announcement up thread about screws coming loose.
Some of the screws on my Hawx were backed out like 4-5 turns.

Atomic may be worse than other brands regarding screws but I’m not so sure. All the screws on my cortex were very loose. Tecnica has had that as well. It’s pretty common. I assume because plastic is flexible. Who knows.
If you’re taking a touring boot and locking out the walk mech thus making it alpine boot, my advice is to just skip the pseudo alpine boot and buy an alpine boot.
Skied the Hawx XTD for [emoji640] days; was folding it in half every other run. Went to Hawx Pro. Likely grabbing a Remedy next year as I still fold the Hawx Pro when skiing big skis though chunk.

Currently in Åre, Åre Skidsport has a demo pair of Remedies@26.5 if anyone wants to give them a go. Never got around to trying them myself.
Got a good look at some Atomic guy's personal boots, had toe inserts done. Sweet looking job!

Do I need to spell it out for you? Maybe they have a one boot quiver. Maybe they are going on a trip where they will be primarily touring and will spend just a single day riding the lifts. The gnar bar makes perfect sense in these situations.No-one needs to be constantly reminded about how amazing of a skier you must be because you fold a boot in half and only ski "real" boots. Get over yourself. If you aren't going to be helpful, there is no reason to respond only to stroke your own ego and denigrate other's choices.
