The windy hill has >2’ settled depth in the upper bowl. Last season conditions weren’t this good until mid-January.

Early opening 11/23 will be a good one.

Figures I have passes to snoqualmie and stevens, lol. Looks like a mission to Mission is in order. Is that a get there early situation, or is a more gentlemanly arrival mid morning generally okay? Wife is probably going to drop me off and go explore Wenatchee/Leavenworth so parking isn't really a concern.

No new snow expected over night so I'd vote for mid morning arrival. Rock ski's recommended with only 18" base.

Looks the first 2 weeks of the season will have to make do without me. Is this an omen for tons of snow or none at all?

I pray that it is the former, and that you are blessed with some nice cold slammers.

I’ll be back the first Sunday in December, then it’s game on.

No snow depths on nwac at Steven’s afaict. Going by Jackattack’s link. I think the news outlets used to report snow depths? Not sure if we could get that by calling the snow line or not. It used to be 634-0200 for all areas and 634-1645 just for Steven’s which was nice.

Heather meadows touring report is: pretty variable, lots of breakable crust with a few inches on top. Snowing mod most of day and now as we head home. Hoping with a few more inches tomorrow will be sweet. Temps are nice and cool now

Successful mission to Mission. Good coverage on the groomers, no real need for rock skis even. Off piste was more variable with a lot of no fun crust.

Good first day at crustal with the fam-damily. Sleeper pooooder day, found a couple knee deep stashes on steep enough terrain to keep moving. Legs were torched after a few hours, getting old sucks.
Didn't realize today was the last day of operations until next Friday, half of seattle must have known though, and showed up. Cars were parking out to F lot when we sauntered in at 10:30. If they truly are going to be checking reservations there (F lot) on weekends it should be a glorious bottleneck clusterfuck possibly leading to country club conditions with the right strategy.

Yeah, today was sweet. Family day for me also, and my son is not embracing the powder turns yet. We could not find any groomed runs, a great problem to have for me, but he struggled so it was not a long day...!!!

Were they actually checking parking reservations? I came up a bit earlier, and was not checked.

I heard they have license plate cameras, so they may not need to manually check them all the time.

Yeah the first three days they didn't require reservations, but whenever they start i'm curious to see how it shakes out. Given Alterra's propensity to create bottlenecks every time they do something i'm not too optimistic.

have no idea how the reservation system is supposed to work, but showed up today for second shift, sniped a c lot spot and had a blast. hard to believe that was opening weekend.

But also, what is that main lodge? That's seriously what they invested all that time and money to create? How many ppl can it even handle at lunch? 100??? a far cry from the previous lunch space.

Quoted for truth. What a shitty design for ski day lodge.

I wasn't tracking that either. Was planning to take a day off tomorrow, and also encourage the family for a Thanksgiving morning expedition. Guess that will have to wait. I bet they are still ramping up staff? Or maybe just cheap...

You know the answer. They have your money already, and they don't have to.

Heading to Baker tomorrow. Because they somehow -can- magically find the staff? I think that's what the kids these days call "Keeping it real".

My wife and two voracious teenagers went on a quest for food and finally found it (of course) at the new lodge. No seats available; they had to take their food trays outside, thread through the people going up and down the 'mountain walkway' and go sit at Rafters on the old side.

Of course I'm way too smart to deal with that crap so I went to the truck to finish my coffee and grab a snack. Arrived just in time to help push some vibrant folks out of the parking lot before they sideswiped my vehicle and the guy parked next to me with their front-wheel-drive-with-bald-tires-mobile. They weren't the only ones surprised by the amount of snow, the crystal parking lot crew was busy digging or pushing out all kinds of vehicles.

All that being said, what a great start to the season! So much more encouraging than last year.
