Work - dude, I’ve been in the office for 30 seconds after a week break. Chill.

Commuting - bonus points to the dickheads tailgating the ambulance and not letting people who just merged right back into the left lane with the left side exit only in 1/4 mile.

Got a coupon from Toyota dealership for a $50 oil change, brake inspection, tire rotation, fluid check, etc. so took my 4Runner in.

In the waiting room I get a call from the service tech, “everything looks good, the only recommendation is to replace your cabin air filter, it’s pretty dirty”

    “How much? “

“$68 plus tax” Hahaha. What the fuck?

    That’s a $10 filter and 7 seconds of labor.

The shitty thing is I bet 75% of people would probably have agreed to it (my wife for example).

Talk about a racket. Other than that, great coupon.

That seems to be a way too common scam. I get hit with it every so often. If I have time, I’ll drop by the manager’s desk and ask them not to do that.

Not many people even know where the cabin filter is.

In my truck the cabin air filter is behind the glovebox...except it requires a ratchet and panel tools to swap. Annoying. Still not annoying enough to pay the dealer to do it.

Jeep Grand Cherokee is the same way. There’s no way to inspect the filter without removing the glove box and the filter. I’ve been waiting to challenge a repair shop telling me the filter needs to be replaced… “so, how do you know, did you see it for yourself???”

4Runner is just inside the glove box, no tools needed.

It think they just go off recommended maintenance intervals. And just looking at a filter probably doesn’t tell you much anyway.

The cabin filter in my minivan takes about 5 minutes to change, pop the glove compartment out and it's right there. The wife's Volvo is a pain in the ass, remove the glove compartment assembly, pull the carpet back, remove a fuse panel and see.hvac stuff then wiggle it in without bending it too much but that's a whole lot easier than on Montucky's Volvo where you have to get under the dash on the driver's side and remove the pedal assembly.

I'm still struggling with getting rid of that furniture and a commercial sewing machine. I've tried selling it, tried giving it away and tried donating it. I can't get it picked up by anybody, a few say if I can get it to them and pay a "small fee" they'll take it. I can't move it by myself, can't get help moving it without picking up a few guys on the street in some questionable places and finding a rental truck to move it in is stupid expensive. I can't believe I'm gonna have to take a sawzall to this stuff and hack it to pieces and pay hundreds for a dumpster. The dining room set is beautiful, purchased new in 1959 and cherished, my wife is all broken up thinking of it being destroyed and tossed.

Jimmy John's delivery bike messengers. Those guys, at least in Boise, are assholes.

I ride plenty, but those guys are assholes in traffic.

Yeah, the cabin air filter is a total racket. Generic parts do a fine job (judging from the amount of crap on it when I pull it out to change it) for a fraction of the price, almost trivially easy procedure, and it's even the exact same filter for my Toyota and Subaru. (Also: Dealer once put in a cabin air filter infused with some perfume crap; buy your own and get what you want unscented.) Funny, with the engine air filter, I usually get charged something in the neighborhood of what the OEM filter costs retail, plus no labor; but they go all-out to gouge on the cabin air filter.

Tundra cabin filter at autozone was $19.99 today. Took about 2 minutes to replace filter from glovebox area. Did the regular air filter too.
Thanks for the reminder, they were both rather dirty.

Sorry to hear... Not sure what has happened the last year or two but it has gotten hard to sell stuff. I used to put stuff up on CL and would get rid of things within a week or two with the usual no-shows, "hey will you take $__ cash today" low ball offers, etc. Sold some stuff end of 2021/early 2022 and I'd get a single response after 2-3 weeks, fortunately that person would actually show up and buy the item. I've had a dozen or so things listed for the last couple months, and crickets. This is useful stuff in good condition at good prices. Do I need to join FB to sell on the marketplace?

Facebook marketplace has been better than OfferUp and Craigslist lately.

Just sold a desk and file cabinet this week.

The key is joining every single buy, sell, trade, free Facebook group in your area and then post the item to all groups.

But yea, some shit will never move.

What style is the dining room set. If it was contemporary in 1959--mid century modern--I'm surprised no one wants it. If it's an old fashioned style--good luck.
That's about the only thing Next Door is good for--buying and selling stuff. (And finding out when people with the wrong skin color are in the neighborhood). Too good for buying--when our first grandson was born my wife loaded up on used baby stuff--a whole room full of the shit, some of which got used a little for a week when they visited and none of which is likely to ever be used again.

Cabin filter was easy. Engine air filter required removing the front bumper.
    Wtf? Who designs that shit?

Yeah that's pretty much the problem, it was very traditional at the time and doesn't really fit any home decor now. Since the place is under contract now I'm gonna have to get help to move it outside so I can cut it into pieces since I can't cover the place in dust and sawdust and shit. The sewing machine is another whole problem, fuckn thing weighs over 300 pounds and the table is solid steel. Uggh

The inability for patients to follow the simplest directions and preps for scans I do. How hard is it to stay fasting for a few hours prior to your scan, or do you just think these instructions don't apply to you?

I can't relate to a lot of things in this thread normally. And I say normally because I'm a pretty easy going dude and on those rare occasions of non-normalness there's Zoloft, but dog poo bags are starting to annoy me. I can't get the damn things open. Does anyone make an easy opening poo bag?

Just go ahead and cut em. Once they've been tied shut like that they're not really intended to open up so you gotta commit.

4 quick clips, change filter and reclip. Took less than a minute.
