TAHOE 22/23 -THE YEAR OF THE (t)RAM

Just saw the holiday rack rate for a day ticket at squaw and WTAFF. Are you kidding me. Way to kill off the future of the sport with any middle class and lower that might have some interest. Maybe it comes w complementary Grey Poupon? Whatever, $270/day is a load for unusable gondola bullshit afaic

A buddy is coming to visit the 9th to 14th and his daughter was gonna buy him a day ticket for palisades while he's here. $200 a month out, so she bought him a sugar bowl ticket instead and they will likely sell two others as a result. On a side note. Can anybody beat $98 for a sugar bowl ticket on January 12?

DSR was fully empty today. Great grooming and snow. Still untracked all over the mountain. No sissy bars on the lifts. Line of cars going to Truckee at 5. People only want to ski where it's cool, dontcha know.

Holy crap..... you can get a legit burger and fries at Rocker for less than that.

    Paliwood. Skiing for rich people.

On a separate note, Kirkwood was selling breakfast sandwiches for a very reasonable $7 or so last weekend, down from last year's $12. I think they got the message that F&B dept makes more money selling SOME food for a 75 pct gross margin than selling ZERO food for an 85 pct gross margin.

Pali will get the message eventually too, when they get tired of paying their staff to do nothing but clean up brown bags the whole season.

Until getting caught with a brown bag gets your pass pulled for the season.
I expect the cost of skiing to continue to rise as the resorts figure they can make as much or more money off of fewer skiers paying more.
Things should get interesting if and when Palisades gets its village built, with much less parking--none of it free.

Powdork riding the lift in a huge bulky jacket.

Guy next to him: "What's up with your jacket?"

Powdork unzips and opens one side to show an array of sandwich options. "What's your flavor my man? I've got turkey, grilled cheese, salami and provolone. I've got a guy over near High Camp with some caprese on facciaca if that's more your thing."

Was that a storming weekend when 88 closed? That might explain reasonable pricing??

Pretty funky snow up top but still nice and soft on protected lower north facing

And some nice views for the real adventurous

What’s going on with the tracks in the lake?

I remember as a kid in the 80’s, staring at California chute in awe and wonder as I rode the old chair 4 with my mom. Thanks for posting.

Tracks in the lake = it's been insanely cold for 3 straight weeks and it's a lot faster to push across it than around it, I'd guess.
