Base 2 Base not running. Alpine is surprisingly uncrowded.

One and done. Sounds like it’s down until they can get the two sections linked together.

the gondola operations were posted in advance last week
This Saturday, the Base to Base Gondola will operate as two separate lifts. Guests planning to ride the entire length will be required to disembark at the KT mid-station and re-load to continue on. Otherwise, they can exit at KT and ski/ride that (black diamond and double black diamond) terrain. Team members will be there to assist with information and re-loading.
Following Saturday’s grand opening, the gondola will close while crews and the lift manufacturer (Leitner Poma) finalize the “interconnect” piece that will allow the lift to operate as one continuous lift. The plan is to have the gondola open by the holiday period. We’re excited to celebrate the realization of a lift more than 70 years in the making this Saturday at our Launch celebration!

It is now $25 for a pretzel and $9 for a PBR at the Chalet at Alpine. Gotta fund the gondola somehow. (may have been that expensive previously but I noticed it for the first time while checking out renovations yesterday).

Does the pretzel come smothered in caviar?

Plenty of untracked cold snow still out there. No complaints and no whining. Caviar from a kind silver harvested from the Chilkat was served post-session.

$25 for a pretzel? That's legitimately scary. Vailco will sell you a burger for less than that. Your average sports stadium or Ticketmaster concert venue will sell you a burger for less than that. I guess they're counting on the "moms with cranky kids who will throw a tantrum and spoil their one ski weekend per year if they don't get a pretzel" market?

Honestly I could not find any sign of renovation on the inside other than renovated prices...

The "Giant" Pretzel includes beer cheese for the $25, so my guess is they use 2 of the $9 PBRs in the beer cheese leaving $7 as the pretzel price. Much more reasonable.
