    Yesterday Ms TBS went in to our local vax site for another booster (she’s immune compromised)

    The volunteer Dr. (an MD) injected her then when updating her vax card exclaimed “I can’t believe I just did that!”

    He injected her with Moderna vax instead of Pfizer…

    She had zero reaction to her first three (Pfizer) shots
    This AM she has a sore arm.
    Maybe this time she will mount an immune response…

    Won't matter at all.......Moderna booster is 50mcg (1/2 original), Pfizer booster is 30mcg (full dose repeated).

    Totally understood - been a lot of Moderna/Pfizer mixing/matching without incident

    It was just vvv

    Oops is OK. Oh shit should worry you. I'd put "I can't believe I just did that" in between.

    3rd Moderna booster for immuno compromised wife was 100 mcg just like the first two.

    Is it down to 50 for the 4th?

    Moderna boosters are 50 micrograms
    ( you wife may have gotten a full 100 microgram dose because she is immunocompromised ) --

    studies cited up-thread showed a much greater antibody response x80+ compared with a 50 microgram dose ( +35x ) for the full 100microgram dose...

    ( however there was another study that showed a better result for three doses of Pfizer.
    I believe the advantage of three doses of Pfizer was the duration of immunity was longer than adding a dose of Moderna ( 50microgram dose, I believe ( standard Moderna booster ))
    ... three doses of Pfizer had longer duration than adding a dose of Moderna to an initial series of Pfizer ;

    I have seen very little promoting a fourth dose of vaccine ( perhaps because booster compliance is not-great )

    Please get vaccinated - and boosted.

    I now someone who got injured after me but she got a new ACL before me

    but she had a greater need cuz she couldn't straighten her leg

    SO I think if you really need an MRI Stat, you will get an MRI stat

    Just an FYI, but even if you're triple-vaxxed and apparently had an asymptomatic COVID infection at some point, you can still end up with long COVID. And you don't want to end up with long COVID.

    This is especially true now, as I received an extra two weeks of paid sick leave in both 2020 and 2021 to deal with time off for COVID, but no such extra time off this year.

    Maybe it's time to stop catching COVID.

    I'm just going to operate like this is some post-covid stuff. Don't even want to use the term long covid. Oddly high heart rate seemed to flare this up. It's a beautiful sunny day and I can't even motivate to go skiing. Just feel like shit again. Shortness of breath, body aches, major brain fog. Gonna try taking NAC, Reservatol, Quercetin as these are the recommended supplements. All anecdotal from the internet as I'm not seeing any real studies. Just, "Yeah, some people feel like shit for a long time after covid and it comes and goes."

    hey, WrG - Good luck...

    it sounds like you've got some significant background stuff going on -
    don't kid yourself : Stress kills.

    Please
    get good rest ;
    eat as well as you can ( more vegetables and fruit. less sugar, less junk ) ;
    exercise is Good - and can be (very) important !

    'post covid' ( / long covid ) - call it whatever you need to, the goal is restoring your good health.

    I have two friends who reported clinical symptoms more than nine months, and more than three months ( And ongoing ) after their clinical signs were no longer evident
    ( Richard was still reporting "tightness" with breathing nine months later ) .

    Good luck, WrG !

    Some are for vaccination and some think it is destruction for society. But I just trust the doctors and am in favor of vaccination. Because the virus affects everyone differently. I think it's best to protect yourself and worry about your health.

    That's what's so infuriating. I'm in the best shape of my life at 38 years old. Most exercise, best diet, strongest etc. Meanwhile there are massively overweight people who get sniffles for two days and have no lasting symptoms. Oh well.

    I got out and skied today. Charging fairly hard and lots of bumps. Felt pretty damn winded and at times kinda faint when really pushing it. Also periods of tremendous brain fog. Like just feeling downright stupid.

    You’re probably one of the people that are genetically susceptible to those issues caused by Covid. It’s really a mystery. I know that doesn’t help and it’s frustrating but you’re alive. Others that are young and healthy AND unvaccinated have died.

    I've speculated.. WITH ZERO PROOF OR SUPPORTING OPINIONS.... that maybe some really physically fit people with excellent cardiopulmonary systems are at a disadvantage when a viral threat attacks through that cardiopulminary system.. i.e. a body that's fine tuned for sucking in air and harvesting oxygen in the lungs quickly and efficiently, also sucks in and harvests more viral particles in that same increased air management capacity. Fad dude that can barely breathe with 400 pounds of cells to feed isn't harvesting nearly as much air, less air, less viral particles in that air.. spread out/diffused over 400 pounds instead of 175..

    But, that more efficient palmary system is also going to flush out/cycle out the nasty stuff faster than the fat dudes does.. so who knows..

    I think there is evidence that being young and fit and robust (meaning that your immune system is also young and fit and robust) can sometimes (but not every time) lead to an immune system overreaction to covid - which causes its own issues on top of the viral infection

    -compared to a fat, out of shape guy who, while not having immune system dysfunction to the point it puts them at increased risk of the virus killing them, has an immune system that just does the bare minimum to fight off covid and then goes back to being underperforming

    if we think of our immune system's response to covid as a spectrum from no response to "super strong attack everything mode" we don't want to be at either end

    smrter people can chime in an correct me

    I'm still hedging my bets by trying to be in the best shape of my life - I'm also doing all I can to avoid getting covid but I know that's just luck in the age of omicron

    My only anecdotal example is that Broadway performer guy Nick Cordero. Dude sang and danced for a living... Ultimate cardiopulmonary shape... didn't go well for him at all. As for every other kind of threat, especially the widowmaker, taking time to exercise some or a lot and eating well is absolutely worth it. I have too many friends who went down early to mid 50s because they didn't.
