Everyone is short on labor. I can see making that call. Nobody wants people sitting around on a down day. Provide a better product, when people actually show up to ski.

If I had an Ikon/MC. I wouldn’t hesitate to burn a couple of days before Christmas.

Looks good. Am tempted to go to Aspen this weekend but lodging is just so expensive.

Drive up early Saturday. Ski Highlands and then check into the Mountain Chalet for $245. Après-ski, early dinner and free breakfast the next day.
Ski Ajax on Sunday, then drive home late.

But that’s only a 3 star hotel. How pedestrian.

6" for steamboat overnight on top of Wednesdays storm. Line was starting for the gondola at 7:30 when I checked the cam. 4pts and BC opening. I'll go bust up some piles later today

Well I wasn't a believer this morning. Made it to the hill at 1:00. Storm and sundown were spinning w/ patrol opening runs throughout the afternoon. Only chair with any real line was BC. More untracked than I expected due to afternoon rope drops. Thanks patrol. Actually felt like a pre Ikon pass era day while I was there.

This is tempting. Anyone want to split a room Saturday?

Caught the rope drop on Retta's this morning @ WP. It was nice and floaty. The surrounding carnage of goobers flailing and blowing up was fun to watch.

hopefully the rest of this state get some snow. Wolf Creek Pass was looking like last year. Top of the pass was overflowing with toy haulers. Van lifers camping out in the touring lot.

Hike-to up the ridge to contest, stampede and rustler was great today in Breck. Finally some continuous fresh turns in bounds, felt great.

^ I wish I knew that hike to was open.
It was such a shit show there, I decided to go walk around Hoosier pass instead of skiing.

I find that the day after a powder day can better than the actual powder day this time of year because of new terrain openings and snow in the BC has time to settle. The way they are showing it, Saturday should fit that timeline. Fingers crossed that we don't get skunked again.

The Basin, who probably has the thinnest snowpack of all, has been doing directed skiing on some of the better terrain and I'd expect that to help them drop some ropes on X-mas day.

frick the wolf creek forecast is mouthwatering. Might have to break my not traveling to ski on the holiday break rule just to get a real pow day haha

They are letting you ski the whole horseshoe area now off the hike here in Breck. Bet they can't get tbar open for the same reason as last year as they must have Pika groomed for the rubes in order to open it.

You’d be better off coming to the RFV.
Most of Highlands is already open.
Aspen and Snowmass will open the most of their terrain this weekend.
Parking is the only issue, but the skiing’s great.

Think I’ll try Friday and Saturday just to be sure. It’s been rough to watch the snowpack stay like pretty much the same for what feels like forever now.
