Rose Chutes have been a sleeper during the week. Truly great coverage and good conditions there and very little traffic. The frequent windholds let it buff out.

Alpine is spinning Summit, Roundhouse, and Scott. It's pretty damned good for mid-December.

Alpine was fucking awesome today. Blue bird laps off roundhouse for an hour then the light went flat but it didn't matter as they opened Summit right then. About a foot of goodness up top in the bowls. Scott was pretty good too.

    Dear Alpine Meadow's ski patrol,

You are seriously retarded and can eat a bag of dicks. Bomb all of Keyhole/High Yellow area. Then when summit finally opens, keep it closed so everyone can traverse as high as possible, into, and underneath aforementioned terrain. Same goes for lower/upper Beaver (not today)
I can understand summit and even Scott today, but late opening on roundhouse??? Pathetic.

    Besides that, skiing was fun!

Sleeper day at Heavenly, was like the whole mountain was a smooth groomer you could just rip on, missed the rope drop for Motts and we still got first tracks down the Y and it skied great.

As an FYI, if you hit the Heave over the holidays, don't forget your strap-on, it's required equipment now!

Rose was gud today - NOBODY there and supportive, fast pow everywhere. Pea Soup rolled in from about 10:15-11:15, but then the ceiling lifted and sun breaks came back out til I left around 12:30... wanted to stay but my early-season legs didn't hold up. COLD! so it should stay good for the week + refills on the way!

edit: no sign of any strap-ons at Rosarita either...

As everyone has said today was super fun, although unlike Alpine and the unofficial report on squaw with all the slide pics today, hardly saw any signs of movement at Sugar Bowl. In fact, I was there at 8:15, and never heard a single bomb go off. Weird. Lincoln was $ after not opening yesterday.

I didnt understand the reasoning for that closure either. I happened on keyhole when just as it finally popped around 1pm and couldnt see any reason why they would not have dropped the rope for it when summit opened. No big deal. I got to ski it.

Any suggestions for a nor cal shop that has experience installing binding freedom inserts? I am in Sacto, but if nothing here, north lake or south lake suggestions would be appreciated! I have asked around but have been scared off by the "no, but we can try" answers!

I think the shit talking is warranted, they have been kinda week about opening terrain. This year the havnt even opened estelle/beaver when its been mildly overcast. I asked a patroller about it nicely and he said they dont open it in bad vis but you could clearly see the whole ridge of beaver from the bottom of summit. I think there just being lazy/over concerned. Not like the get after it if you can attitude that patrol has up in montana thats for sure...

Or, like most Private Equity consolidations they cut staff and don't have the resources to run at the previous level for both businesses.

Take it easy there Francis. No shit talk, but there were a number of things that stood out that was a bit unusual for AM SOPs. I chalked most up to short staff, but there were a few "dont go here signs" that were new to the program.

Village Ski Loft in Incline installed some on a pair for me last year. Ask for Elko.
