I am thrashed, worked those thighs today. Feels kinda good.

I went up to the Ghee with the guy who was with me snowboarding on the day of my heart attack. He dropped me off at my daughters home, just like that day. My daughter was doing some yard work and I popped out of Jeep and said "Heart Attack Time!!!" Funny thing was ...she didn't think it was so funny.

I did eventually get a smile from her, but she called me several times later (this evening) to make sure I was OK. Doing good, doing good.

Man, I have been all down in the dumps over a poorly healing acl/meniscus, but this thing you went through puts it in perspective. So glad you made it through. Hope to shred with you sometime next year!

Think you're gonna make it out to Big Sky before the end of the season LBL? It's warming and melting fast up here.

Yep, time is running out, and though I would love to come up, it may not happen. Got a couple of buddies that keep dragging me up to Targhee. I know.... life is tough.

Was hard and fast yesterday morning, groomers sounded like there were jet fighters taking off.

Dave and I had much fun.

That'd be Dave. He really gets into it, for sure. Lots of admirers out there, but also some haters. I can see why, he digs some deep trenches on the groomers. That particular day he had one guy tell him how cool it was, and another who just chewed his ass up one side and down the other.

Even I gently kid him about how he ruins the groomers for us! "Damn it Dave, will you knock that shit off!!".... I don't really care, I just like to tease him.

love seeing alpine boarders hold an edge like that. Enough people fuck up the groomers with far less style... yeah, definitely entertaining to watch a dude carve a turn with his face a foot off the ice his one edge is holding.

Well shit.... I have been feeling so good hat I thought I would head to the high country, the Lost River Range. Awesome lonely country. I know it well, having summited a dozen or more of the range's highest peaks. I drove up last night, slept in the Subaru, and froze my ass off. Got up early, gathered my board and shit and headed up. About an hour into it, I start to feel sick. Dizzy sick. I have been taking it real easy, but the terrain is steep. Have I been overdoing it? Didn't think so. My hands are also cold as shit. It gets so bad I have to sit down. Damn. I feel better sitting, and rest for a few minutes. I stand up and damn near pass out. Shit.

I sit down again, and now I am worried. Holy hell, I can't even stand up. I sit there for another few minutes and try it again. Blackness starts to creep in on the edges of my sight. Fuck! I sit again to avoid tumbling down the slope. Now I am seriously worried. What the fuck am I going to do now? My wife knows where I am, and I think about digging out the cell phone. I don't do it though.

Another 15 minutes go by. Wild thoughts go through my mind. Thoughts of sliding down the mountain on my ass and crawling to my car. That is going to suck. I will have to leave my split on the side of the slope and try to get back to my car. No. I am not leaving it. I don't know why not, but it was what it was.

45 minutes have gone by and I steel myself and stand very slowly. Still very dizzy, but I remain standing. 5 more minutes and I swing the pack over my shoulder, hitting my left hand with the edge of the board. Blood frikin' everywhere, and it won't stop. Not a large cut, but my blood thinners keep it from clotting. My hand is red and blood is dripping from my fingers... but I am standing and I have my pack on.

Down I go, very slowly and carefully. Takes about an hour to return to the car. My hands are still painfully cold. Even with quality mittens on.

I get loaded and head down the road with the heater on high. My hands just scream with pain as they warm up. Shit.

I did stop to snap off a few shots, so that the entire trip was not wasted.

This is from the end of the Upper Cedar Creek road. White Knobs in the distance.

    The objective

    Nearby peaks...

It takes two and a half hours to drive home. My blood pressure reads 92 over 55. Holy shit that is low. Over the next few hours it rises to near normal. I even mow the backyard (push mower), feeling fine.

    What happened?

a - My BP daily dosage might be too much.

b - I may have mistakenly doubled up on my BP meds that morning, though I am pretty careful about that shit.

c- I am dieing. My heart can't take it. ;-)

I think it is possible that I put one too many BP pills in the baggie I used for my morning meds, so I am going with b. I will follow up with the Doctor this week.

Holy smokes, LBL. Glad you made it out after/ during that episode. Hope you get your med amounts straightened out.

And although I love spring skiing in the Lost Rivers, low snow and high snowline aren't inspiring enough to make me venture over there.

Checking in from Canada. I hadn't checked it out in a 6 months or so.

I love this thread! Congrats to you LBL on dodging the reaper!

It's kind of weird to feel like you "know" someone you've never met, but I'm happy to hear that you're on the mend e-friend!

Hope to see many more years of you and this thread delivering the goods.

Thanks! and yes, the snowline is up there most of the time, though I do have a spot that is easily reached and usually delivers...... but even so, a bad day in the hills is better than most other days.... ;-)

Thanks! Yes, I have been dodging, even yesterday for a little while I thought I might be cashing in. It hit me fast and hard. Weird feeling that. Thoughts of dying right then and there went through my mind and hit me like a freight train.

Even so, I wasn't terrified. If it happens, then it happens. Worse ways to go, like at home.... in bed.

Going out this afternoon and do a bit of hiking... I will post a pic or two! I hope!
