If this storm drops anything less than 8" or more than 12" per day at rates of no more than 1.5" per hour of between 8.75% and 10.15% density snow, I'm not skiing...

It had better be blue bird @ 31* with wind of not more that 5 mph from the SW too when it clears.

OTOH, we may still be too far away from the actual event to do much more than play at predictions. Just saying.
and then your car gets swept up in a tornado once you reach Iowa

where is OHC these days? We need him to leave town, that always seems to do the trick

Shit man, if you're that worried, mabe you should move your desk to the a difference aspect of the office and make sure your monitor is out any potential deposition zones.

It may be a fun couple of weeks for you and Tony.

It's not as good as leaving town, but I think I'm probably going to have to work for the next 16 days straight.

I'll go wash the car now, anyway.

Not to jinx it, but anyone thinking about looping a daytrip to Alpine on Saturday? That's the only day I might escape work. I'll send an e-mail out to snowpals if not.

The SkiBus, heading up on Saturday, just got switched to No-stars, from Schralpine...
Saturday, 12/5 to Alpine Meadows has been switched to Northstar.
    - Though we love Alpine, Northstar will have 6+ chairs open, compared to 2 at Alpine, with more terrain to ski & ride on.
    Just saying...
Now, No-stars is my least favorite resort, but it does make sense to go there when conditions suit (storms/winds/wrod)
It's not like you're going to be going off-piste at AM, after all.

Surprisingly flatstars coverage is looking far superior to alpine/squab. who wudda thunk? Give thanks to SCUTSKI for posting that link

I'll be driving up with the kids on Friday, leaving the bay area in time for dinner etc. in Truckee. Should we make it family-friendly?

Are there people locked into the Skibus? I can drive my 2WD POS to Alpine from the yay area if the weather is decent. Don't wanna burn through a pile of gas just to drag my ass up there, but if the car's full up, I'd do it.
Planning a one day roundtrip on Saturday, but nothing can justify paying to go to N*. I'd rather pay Arco.
Drop me a PM if you're interested to avoid further jonging up of this thread.

Hey just wanted to alert everyone on the 1-day Avy Avoidance & Awareness class at LTCC (1/9/10).

Just registered - with fees it was $12.50 (I <3 LTCC!) Figured it would be a good refresher along with rereading the Bruce Temper book. Registration for new students is tomorrow morning at 7am - good luck to all those trying to get in on AIARE Level I classes!

My whole desk is a deposition zone of paperwork, data cartridges, and equipment; the avy advisory rarely drops below considerable with natural sluffs occurring regularly throughout the day.

We'd have to fill and spill before things got fun. I did just get a few sites fixed up since they were first wiped out in '97, though some are still "temporarily" fixed since then.

Hoping our meteorologists are right, they are putting the 10 day at 7+" of precip with snow lines starting 5500 ending 7000. That's upside down snowpack folks, so you all might just want to stay home.

    Kirkwood hiking?

I realize I'm the newbe here, but I've been sking at the wood for a while now. I'll be going up this weekend, I noticed some of you were doing some hiking recently. I hear only 5 will be running, is there much worth hiking to? Thunder Saddle, or possibly Palisades?

A skin up buckboard is your best bet. Safe and thick with snow.

Top of the hill is real scraped. Corner Chute looked good by Gimpy/SC. I imagine there is snow in the Saddle, based on last w/e winds. If you are solo, I would not go in there. There could still be some nasty layers with a ton of wind loaded snow on top.

Any idea why one of the Level I courses is Fri - Sun from 8 until 3:50 and the other is Tuesday and Thursday from 6 until 9:50?

The Sun - Fri class is a over 21 hours but the Tue - thurs is only about 8 hours.
They both say AIARE level I. I am assuming I am missing something??

We are heading up to Tahoe City Friday morning to open up ski lease cabin. We might be up for dinner on Friday.

    Skiing Alpine on Saturday.

OHC: 12 days on the ICE Coast and in cities. I'm starting to feel better about the holidays.
