Unhappy What's the deal with coke?

Yes, this is an alias. Some of you probably know this person.

A friend of mine who previously mentioned to me he was getting over a bit of a coke habit started acting very strange the other night, which made me wonder if he was back in the game. The other option was that he was just acting wierder than I've ever seen?

He went from being the normal guy happy and bouncy and chatting to the ladies at a bar, then when we went home he turned quiet, mumbly, going to the bathroom every 10 minutes and only pissing half the time with occasional snortage or nose blowage I couldn't tell, followed immediately by the intense need for a cigarette and loogy launching session. The wierdest thing was his demeanor; it was if a paranoia switch had been flipped and he was tripping out on sounds that weren't there and wouldn't go out on the deck to smoke without having one hand on the door in case raccoons got him. If we were inside he'd just stand and contemplate the floor and shift his eyes around as if he was expecting to get jumped (we were in a house) He's normally totally chatty or at least has something to say but I could not get him to say anything except mumbles or asking for a drink or offering me a smoke or asking if I had any weed. I don't smoke and he knows this. This went on for a couple of hours.

I suppose this isn't a lot to go on but if any of you all have experience with the Yay and its effects (I thought it sped people up, but ???) then feel free to share.

I am guessing that he has progressed to crack or freebase. Seriously. This is no joke...if he has, than everything you knew or trusted about him needs to be reevaluated. Good luck, I have witnessed this first hand. PM if you want any more beta.

THe sniffing & mucus launching definately sounds like he was putting something up his nose.

The actions seem to be more like a hallucinogen. Having lived with my brother who was a coke fiend for a few years I know that if you do to much coke (overdose) it can slow you down and make you act like he was acting though...

Paranoia is a long term side effect of serious cocaine abuse. I've seen it.. Stay away from that guy because he doesn't trust you either.

Definitely could be blow... Uh, from what I've heard.

And raccoons are scary, no matter what drugs you're on.

Kinda tough to tell without more info - his behavior is consistent with somebody coming off more than "a bit of" a coke habit. It's also consistent with tweaker and duster behavior.

humor aside, do be careful. There are definitely people who's mild paranoid schizophrenia is greatly exacerbated by white powders. You don't want to be dropping in unannounced when his brain is telling him the CIA just showed up to take him dead or alive.

You might also check for hookers, you know there's going to be hookers if there's blow.

Yeah, but if you're on E, wouldn't you want to pet the raccoon???

"C'mere little buddy...let me pet you..."

Kinda reminds me of a Mitch Hedberg skit (speaking of drugs)
I wanted to do my 'Smokey the Bear' joke in England, but I had ask if they had 'Smokey the Bear in england', and they don't. They have 'Smacky the Frog'. I think that is a way better system, because bears can be mean, but frogs are always cool. Like, never has there been a frog hoppin' towards me, and I thought, "Man, here comes that frog. I better play dead." Never have I said "here comes that frog" in a horrified manner. Its always optimistic, like, "Hey. Here comes that frog. Alright. Maybe he will settle near me, and I can pet him, and hold him. And put him in a mayonnaise jar. With a stick and a leaf. To recreate what he's used to. And I'm gonna poke holes in the lid, 'cuz he's definitely used to air."

If he asked for weed, he was probably coming down off it. If you've done alot of coc in a night, the comedown sucks.

I'd be afraid it was going to steal my solid-gold pacifier and glow sticks. They like shiny objects.

I chased one away from our yard by throwing a perfect fast(tennis)ball right between his eyes. But you don't fuck with them close up.
You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

that's funny, that's what I used to do with the bears in taos, I'd get 'em running with the tennis ball and then my heeler/coyote/chow mix would haul ass after 'em. Good times.

coke fiends suck. my new "boss" seems to have a "bit" of a coke habit. perpetual sweat from his brow and constant sniffing gave em away. he will ruin himself just as all the others have before him...

sounds like that is exactly what was he was up to, particularly with all the sniffling going on. coke speeds you up initially, but after repeated use in one night CAN eventually have the opposite effect and cause paranoia.

sounds like his habit is back.

sounds fishy- he could very wellbe back on it BUT:

He could have just been craving it and asked for weed to get an alternative buzz. Booze triggers the cravings fro some people huge-

Um, and don't suggest this to him and lead him into the excuse- If he says this on his own it may have merit.

You have described perfectly, the behavior of some folks I have known--folks I know to have a coke habit. Coke alone can cause that behavior. Frequent trips to that bathroom is a dead giveaway and the ciggy smoking only augments that presumption.

Its tough with friends--there comes a time when you may need to cut bait if they are unwilling to help themselves because they will end up hurting you.

Could be coke, could be crack, 8balls....

    Could be a heroin crash.

He needs to get to a clinic before he hurts himself/you/someone else.

Was you uncle on acid when he killed the raccoon? Because that would be mildly awesome.
