Yesterday was nothing short of pure domination by the American snowboarding team in the Olympic Halfpipe.
On her Olympic debut in the women's snowboard halfpipe final, Chloe Kim set the standard early by dropping an impressive 93.75 score on her first run. A score so solid, that none of the other competitors could match it by her final run.
Having already won gold, Kim let loose with a victory lap for the ages, one-upping herself, by landing a frontside 1080 into a cab 1080 back-to-back to claim a nearly perfect score of 98.25.
Meanwhile, Shaun White reminded us why he's a two-time gold medalist in the pipe, throwing an insane 98.50 for his final run in the qualifiers. Usually qualifiers are pretty tame, but as Todd Richards so eloquently put it on Instagram, the "Men’s pipe qualifier just turned into a final/ego/let’s whip em out, throw em on the table and compare, contest!" as White, Scotty James and Ayumu Hirano all recorded scores above 95 in qualifying, with White landing back-to-back 1260s.
