In my recent search for a new ski jacket I came across the Spyder Power Jacket, fully equipped with insulation, breathability and waterproofing. Naturally, I went with black on black to compliment the other half of my ninja get-up. You might not guess from the minimalist design but the Power jacket it packing some serious functionality.
First things first, the Power’s Xt.L laminate's 20,000mm waterproofing/breathability rating and 3M Thinsulate ensure bell-to-bell performance, especially when backed up by Spyder’s staple function-forward features. These days, who is skiing, or waiting for the bus for that matter, without some tunes? The internal electronics pocket is super accessible and the zip closure ensures you won't lose your pod. This jacket has a very women's specific cut. With an hourglass shape and dropped back hem this style allows for a little more room in the hips and length in the back giving it added comfort as well as some coverage if you fall (which I never do). The front placket and curve-hugging tapered lines will catch the eyes of even your oldest ex-boyfriend in the liftline. There's a detachable powder skirt, an internal mesh goggle pocket, and a chamois lens wipe - the Power jacket is loaded with extras without getting bulky.
At first glance, due to it's feminine cut, you might overlook this jacket a something more for the cougars of the mountain. But don't let the subtle steez go unnoticed. There's a brimmed storm hood, sleeve cuffs with thumbholes, and a mircofiber inner collar to keep the bottom of your face unscathed. Combining girlie style with Spyder performance this jacket holds up from the top of the tram to the bottom of your PBR ladies.
