I’ll admit it. I love testing every type of ski equipment except for boots. Why? Because boot testing is physically painful, you have to be custom fitted for each pair and it takes considerable time before you know if a boot actually works well or not.
I have put the Nordica Firearrow F1 Boot through the ringer so far this season and these boots stand up. Luckily, the pain was kept to a minimum, thanks to a perfect boot fitting from my good friend Dennis Meeker at Christy Sports in Boulder, CO and a super comfy liner. It actually took me a much shorter amount of time to break these boots in than I expected and I’ve been enjoying them ever since.
Skiing fast and aggressively is what I enjoy and I demand and love a ski boot that’s stiff, high performance and transfers energy quickly. In high consequence terrain, I was instantly comfortable that the F1’s would react to my body the way that I needed them to. The F1’s lock your foot and heel in place perfectly and help you feel connected with your skis. You can really drive your skis with these boots and know that they will hold up all day long. Take them in pow, off a cliff or on groomers and they’ll always feel at home.
It’s pretty apparent that Nordica did not cut any corners with the F1. The craftsmanship and quality are both phenomenal, every feature is well appointed, comfort was not an afterthought and the performance is top of the line. Even though it’s not a deal breaker at all for me, I really love the handle on the tongue to help get these boots on and off my feet. Taking my boots off and on can be such a chore and this makes it so much better. I strongly believe that the F1 will take anything that you throw at it and exceed your expectations.
Even though I hate testing boots, I’ll be one of the first to admit that finding the right boot is essential to ensuring the best possible skiing experience. The F1’s are everything that I could want in a boot and should be a worthy contender for your money if you’re an advanced or expert-level skier in need of new boots. Check out the F1’s and get ready to charge.
