Shaun White has come under fire for a recent controversial Halloween costume. Today, in response to the criticism, he released an apology statement directed towards the Special Olympics community for dressing up as Simple Jack. The character, who is an intellectually disabled character from the movie Tropic Thunder, has received backlash from disability rights advocates. In addition to his apology, White has removed photos of the costume from his Instagram.
