At a breakfast joint in Greybull, Wy, they wanted $3.50 for one extra slice of toast. (Comes with one). JFC

    Shit that annoys you

We were at Kokkari in San Francisco right after it opened, and the meal starts out we get some appetizers, and the waiter says “Oh, it looks like you could use some bread, I’ll bring some”. We’re like, cool, and they bring this nice pita. Then on the bill it was like 10 bucks.
    That was real bullshit.

I watched it recently. It’s a character driven period piece and people don’t really watch that stuff anymore. I would say it’s like Lawrence of Arabia in that regard. I think it’s a great movie but people don’t have the attention span to watch it.

I definitely would have deducted that from any tip at all, with an explanation as to why.

"Whats your email" "Same as it was yesterday when you emailed me"

"Can you go back over to the job and give me that measurement again" "Check your email"

"I'll get that to you tomorrow" tik tik....3 days later

As a 25+ year contractor, I've learned that I'll end up doing about 20% of everyone's job and I price accordingly, but some people are ridiculous. I had to bust out this line yesterday with my preferred cabinet design/ supplier. They make a full 100% markup on the order and the designer/salesperson makes 20%. This is serious big boy/girl cheddar.

"I fuck up cost me money you fuck up cost me money is a really bad business model"

What the hell is with an expensive restaurant charging me 2.98% credit fees on dinner service? This trend is fucked. Put it into your food costs, asshats! Don't act like dealing with cash doesn't cost you money unless you're skimming...
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Time for another argument about the hidden costs of credit card swipe fees!

Tried to split the bill 4 ways at a restaurant. "Oh our system can't handle more that two cards". Bullshit you lazy ass server, this is 2024. We carry computers in our pockets that can do basically anything. I know your POS is capable of splitting a check. Oh, and she auto gratuitied us for splitting the check.

You know, people who are always fighting the customer and making things more difficult for everyone involved usually end up being pretty miserable in life. One of the best takeaways from my year in the service industry.

I’ve seen enough POS systems to know that’s a high probability. Not everyone is on modern stuff. Four ways is also a lot, and a considerable pain in the ass.

No it isnt. Simple math. This is a restaurant that is less than 5 years old and using ipads. We werent asking for them to separate anything. Just split evenly 4 ways. I was doing that shit in highschool at a restaurant.

The way around this, unfortunately, is to ask the policy first. If they won’t, then separate checks for everyone. ,

HOLY FUCKING MOTHER OF DOG .... chair 16 at Mammoth right?

Putting on their skis/board, buckling boots, trying to explain to their equally clueless bros where they are so they can all gather and make even a bigger road block, pulling off their pack to sort through it for something completely un-necessay, or simply staring at .... everything?
Gearing up in front of the pass reader should be punished by confiscating their pass.

    Damn right!!
Special kind of hell needed for these idiots
Spring breakers skiing in hoards of ten were the worst at this
Then there’s the fvuckers who go all the way to the loading ramp before figuring out their wife/husband/friend isn't with them and then stand there blocking everything while said partner tries to push their way thru.

Depending on where it's located, that ranges from mildly inconvenient to utter PITA home destruction.

I've seen some newer construction where they put the water heater in the attic...

it's in the lower level, so as best I can tell, worst case scenario is a small area of carpet needs to go (squishy carpet is what alerted me to the problem!).

And the place is a rental, so it's mostly just inconvenient for me, a bigger problem for low post mag Tainted Meat (my landlord).

Given that the way water heaters generally fail is to spill their entire (water) guts, and that they fail every decade or so give or take, it amazes me that more places aren't engineered for that failure.

Perpetual road construction annoys me. In Reno they spent years rebuilding 395 near I80, and a year after the finished it the started over. And after they finished that in a few more years they tore up the airport, which is about the only place I go in Reno.

In Sacramento US50 has been torn up east of Bus 80 for at least 5 years with no end in sight, and then a couple of years ago they tore up the WX section, just for the hell of it, also with no end in sight. And on Bus80 just north of there they've been adding lanes with a bridge over the American River for years and nowhere near done. Just about the only place I can go in Sac without running into construction is my favorite sandwich places, and only because I can walk there.

Caltrans spent years rebuilding the mountain section of I80--the deeply rutted 1950's concrete was way overdue for replacement, but within a few years the right hand lane was more rutted than the old pavement ever was. And every year they're working on it again, fixing the stuff they fucked up.

Our son spent 4 years in Milwaukee in school. The freeways were torn up when he got there and were torn up when he left.

Of course all these examples pale besides the Big Dig in Boston. Fortunately that was over before our kid wound up there.

Heh. It seems like they've been working on the Champlain bridge into Montreal for my entire life. And; of course the Turcot Interchange.

Have you tried crossing the I80 causeway heading west from Sac yet??

You're in for a real treat.
