This seems like the kind of thing people would do who also hoarded incandescent light bulbs while they were still available.

Right? That been said, I wish I still had some incandescent bulbs for the dimmable recessed lighting in the kitchen. The fixtures are too old to handle LEDs very well. The cheap was is to put a non-dimmer switch on them. I don't feel like ripping open the fancy Sheetrock work the previous owners did in order for me to fix it right.

Every morning in Boise there is a disproportionate amount of drivers rolling around with their bright headlights on. I wish I had a couple of giant light bars on my vehicle to let them know they are on bright mode.

Can't you get a dimmer switch compatible with LEDs? I thought the issue with dimming was generally the switch, not the fixtures themselves...

It's definitely not the fixture. It's the lamps or the lamp/dimmer combo. Buy good lamps that warm (lower Kelvin temp) and good Lutron LED dimmers. Any fixture that has power will work. You can also buy a complete retro led trim with light built in. The shitty thing with those is when the led dies you have to throw the whole trim piece out. Wasteful af, but thats more norm than not now. We're going backwards. Thanks Obama

Hah. Just spent a dry frozen week at Altabird. Drove to Truckee from RNO at 1 am in a fucking slush storm. Poison oak annoys me. Didn't touch any that I know of recently but ended up with a big patch of rash on one arm. There must have been some PO oil on the cuff on an old pair of gloves I wore a few days ago doing trail work.
