Fucking cars with no oil or ATF dipstick. Had the ATF changed and it is acting wonky due to be under filled per Rennlist. Now I get to spend a few hundy taking it back in.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Probably someone who lives somewhere like Maine, maybe in the shadow of a mountain, and is used to watching the sun disappear at 2:30 pm in January (when it's not too cloudy to see it at all).

That basically describes my house. 48 degrees north and a big hill to the north / west of me. And yeah, cloudy 95% of the winter. The sun goes down early in the winter, but that doesn't mean it's reasonable.

I'd be pretty alright with it being dark until 10 am in the morning if it meant I got a 7pm sunset in December. Would mean I could get a post-work skinning lap without dicking around with lights.

Anyway, my gripe is not so much about DST as that the ski areas for the most part don't adjust their hours to adapt to conditions. And I wouldn't mind not having to stay up until 10 on July 4th to watch the Donner Lake fireworks.

I lived for a year in AZ. I never heard anyone complain that they didn't have DST. Of course in Tucson outdoor recreation in the summer was before work, not after.
go originalist and be against time zones we didn’t need them until after the war of northern aggression!. Or be a detroiter and want your own time zone back again

The part of the team in India is all confused about when to schedule meetings and changes. Especially since all changes have to entered in US EDT. Add in trying to schedule changes in Europe between now and Mar 31st and they are toast. I am tired of explaining it to them. And I turned 50 a few years ago.

I'm so fukn sick of rain. I'm now well over 60" since last June with 3.5 of that last week. The ground is so saturated that every time it rains the water comes up through the basement floor and seeps right through the 80 year old walls. Fukn annoying.

Ill take an early sunrise over a late sunset everytime. Less people to share that early sunrise with (compared to a late sunset), and something really special about the golden light pre-6am when those first few sips of coffee start hitting, and you go from feeling like a zero to hero real quick and youre brimming with (likely false) optimism about the day. My toddler's bedtime routine starts at 7pm, so as long as it stays light out till 7pm im cool, cause after that im shutting it down for the night anyways.

I live a block from a state park with bike trails, so im looking forward to 530am half hour rips around the forest on my MTB in that golden light pre-work.

Back on topic- A part of our fence blew down over the weekend. Whoever installed it originally did a pisspoor job-4x4s straight into dirt w/ no concrete, fence stringers nailed in and the nails were too short. Sections have fallen over every year since we moved in. Its not rocket science or expensive to rebuild the sections, but i am always nominated to fix the fence sections (neighbors pay for materials, i provide the labor). I have a badly arthritic shoulder and skis season is FINALLY turning on here in the PNW so its really annoying to have the fence section and a fucked up shoulder on the to-do list this coming week.

No, i was saying that adults whining about being a little tired, a little hungry or a little bored was annoying. I wasnt arguing for or against DST.

I was talking with someone yesterday about permanent DST (which is a fairly popular idea here in the NW corner) and we came up with Chairlift Standard Time. Clocks set back one hour the Friday night before the first mountain opens.

The rest of the year we observe BT (bike time).

Ted, that's a good plan for us old white men and our need for leisure sports. Let's sell it to Republicans as GT (golf time) instead of BT and it will all get fast tracked to the White House.

As for things that annoy me - parents who schedule their little kids birthday parties during 3-day weekends.

I might boil that down to

    kids birthday parties
"fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ
"She was tossing her bean salad with the vigor of a Drunken Pop princess so I walked out of the corner and said.... "need a hand?"" - Odin
"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy

My mechanic said "no we aren't". He feels most people are clueless.
