Are you somehow privy to the new evidence LAIP says it has discovered?

A lot of people who have been found innocent of past crimes were not good people to begin with. Scott Peterson may very well be one of them.
Two thumbs up for the story of GameStop - Dumb Money
Really good details and very compelling. Will def make you want to grab a pitchfork and grease up the guillotine

Leave the World Behind. Dark humor and a bit of quirkiness, with pretty good acting all in all. It's not a new story (a small group of people dealing with an apocalypse of sorts), and it doesn't offer any tidy resolutions, but I liked it.
BLOODHOUNDS
I binged this K-drama the other week.
Some of the interactions between characters is a bit schmaltzy and soap operatic, but the fight choreography is tight and brutal and more than makes up for the overly melodramatic moments.
Dumb Money was one of the best movies I saw last year.
Complete travesty that it got shunned by all the awards shows.
DUMB MONEY
This film is $$$$$$$$.
Sharp dialogue, a spot-on and fantastic cast, plus taut and smooth pacing make it one of the best underdog dramas I’ve seen in years.
Honestly, there’s not a wrong note delivered during its hour-and-45 minute run time.
You don’t have to know anything about the stock market (I don’t) nor do you need to be overly familiar with the GameStop Wall Street insanity that took place during the pandemic to enjoy this film because it’s just so expertly crafted on all fronts.
Highly recommended.
Seems like we're verging on a separate Korean media thread; there's some really good shit amongst all the bad shit.
Recovering from pneumonia so I've been on the couch way more than I'd like. Not a big movie person nowadays, prefer books, but I'm on so many meds it's hard to read so movies it is. I've already watched entire Narcos and Peaky blinders for third time because Cillian Murphy, guess I'll venture out.
Watched Nyad last night because Jimmy Chin. I think most of you guys would not like it because aging lesbian women, but there was no sex. Annette Bening was masterful at portraying Nyad with her tenacity and perseverance. Jody Foster was decent and portrayed real-life Bonnie (Nyad's best friend and coach) to a T. What's not to like about Rhys Ifans. It was about 1/2 hour longer than it needed to be, and I think if you don't know the story behind Nyad, her tendency to be a hardass and type II narcissist, the writing will come off as badly scripted. Bening's performance was exactly who Nyad was and deserves an Oscar nod for it. I appreciated a movie about aging women, no makeup, and what is possible as we get older. The actual footage of the swims blended in to the movie well. I think what made me appreciate this is that Nyad is same age as my mom. No way in hell could I imagine my mother swimming 110 miles ten years ago, let alone when she was 30. I won't watch it again, but I think a lot of women, especially older women, will relate to this show. It's still unbelievable to me how many people continue to discredit her endeavor to this day. Jimmy Chin making moves, not a blockbuster but certainly not a bad attempt. I wonder what's next on his plate.
I've got Society of the Snow on que for tonight. Saw Alive in a theater in Brussels back in '93 so looking forward to seeing how this one compares. Buried for tomorrow night.
Watched Kevin Hart paint by numbers heist movie Lift last night. Likable characters and weirdly Hart played his leader role totally straight. There was some interesting tech but no real fear our heroes faced real threats. The movie is probably most memorable for the biggest underuse of Vincent D’nofrio ever. Easy movie to pass time to but nothing new or particularly interesting
And, to many people in the open water swimming community, a complete fraud. I just can't bring myself to watch the movie based on that fact.
The second season of Love on the Spectrum is out now. I can't recall if I mentioned the first season here before, but it's oddly compelling. Basically it's a documentary following several people with autism as they try to navigate the dating world. Variously funny, heartwarming and cringeworthy.
Society of the Snow was legit. Holy crap, can't stop thinking about it. Haven't watched a movie like that in awhile. Light years better than Alive. Incredible acting from those young men- the perseverance, the tragedy, struggles, the human will to survive. I was gripped the entire time. I think the movie did justice to the lives lost as well as the survivors. Just watch it.
I also couldn't help but want to ski some of that terrain, really good cinematography.
From Wikipedia:
“ Principal photography took place in Sierra Nevada, Spain; Montevideo, Uruguay; Chile and Argentina, including the actual crash site in the Andes.[20] Filming in Sierra Nevada lasted from 10 January to 29 April 2022.[21][14] Filming in Uruguay concluded in late July 2022,[17][22][14] and production continued then in Madrid.[17] Production took the total of 138 shooting days, with its budget reported to be over €65 million.[23]
In August 2021, the second unit, headed by Alejandro Fadel [es], Argentine director of Murder Me, Monster, filmed landscapes in Chile for reference in on-set virtual production and post-production.[7][6][24] In Sierra Nevada, the production was challenged by a scarcity of snow, and by Saharan Air Layer which covered the mountains with orange dust.[7][25] Three replicas of fuselage wreckages were used: one was placed in a hangar built in a parking lot,[26] another buried in artificial snow and supported by a hydraulic crane that allowed moving the fuselage, and the other above a tarn at 3,000 m (9,800 ft) high.[6][7][24] In the hangar, a 30-metre-tall screen displayed the second unit's footage of the Andes.[7][25][24] The third unit was tasked with more dangerous mountain shots.[7] The three units consisted of around 300 workers.[6][7]
David Martí and Montse Ribé, Academy Award–winning special effects makeup artists of Pan's Labyrinth, created prosthetic corpses and wounds.[7][24] Post-production was planned to last about five months involving 300 personnel.[7][6] Vierci, who serves as an associate producer, visited the set in Sierra Nevada.[6]”
Probably already posted, but lately the Mrs. and I have been getting into "DARK". Fascinating. Most intriguing time travel series to date.
On the [much] lighter comedy side, I like Loudermilk.

I really liked the first season of Dark. Second season was mostly decent. 3rd season was a slog that I felt obligated to watch to try to get resolution to the series. It was like the writers were served an ultimatum that required at least 3 twists per episode, so they started inserting all these goofy plot devices that became more and more contrived.
Good to know. Tonight, I will watch the final episode of season 1.
Has anyone watched the newest rendition of Money Heist? I'm interested, but the last season also fell off a bit for me.

^ Yep, basically correct.
BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99
Note:
I did not include the trailer as it spoils the '80s mega-star cameo surprise, which I think is better if you aren't prepared for it. Just know, the flick is dope-as-fuck, violent, and crazy. And the '80s mega-star is gonzo nuts in it.
This is the latest feature from the S. Craig Zahler, the writer/director of Bone Tomahawk and it’s similar in design in that it’s a slowburn miazma of intensity and graphic violence. It starts out at a languid pace and then in the middle part of the third act it literally falls over the cliff into harrowing WTF insanity.
It's definitely deeply rooted in genre aesthetics (think '70s drive-in grindhouse fare), albeit twisting them on their head a wee bit.
Vince Vaughn unleashes a tour de force performance which on the surface doesn’t seem like much of a stretch from his breakthrough in Swingers, but re-imagine that character now transformed into a quasi skinhead with anger management issues. Yeah.
The gore is sparse, but when it comes, it comes with a vengeance (uber props for the seriously gooey and gruesome practical effects, too...I love me that shit).
If Vince kicking ass and serious splatter ain't enough for you, there's a great cameo from a bygone '80s star that had me double-checking big time (won't spoil it, as it's a rich cameo). Great dialogue (again, propelled by Vaughn) and some serious slow building tension make this a worthy watch.
Again, not real horror by definition, but the gore and violence put it on the fringes for sure.
I never really got into the whole prison sub-genre of drive-in movies, but this is a great addition to that forgotten aspect of grindhouse.
Like others, I found Buried to be a good documentary. We moved to Incline in '86 and I remember it still being fresh on peoples' minds back then.
Watched A Man Called Otto, never saw the original version but I did read the book. I'm still ruminating on that one. What is it about Tom Hanks movies that include so much marketing- that part kind of ruined it for me. But I did cry because as a person without kids this may as well be my future. I instantly recognized Marisol (Mariano Trevino's character) from Narcos- Mexico, she was the glue that held the film together.
I think I need to watch some comedy tonight, lol. Fletch in the que...
Interesting, I had no idea but googled after reading your post and found this: https://defector.com/diana-nyads-swi...osing-her-lies
