I do that sometimes. Most people seem to speed up and sit in my blind spot or try to pass on the right. Don’t most cars have cruise control these days?

Camping in the left lane is far far worse but I get what redacted is saying too. Once you pass, you should maintain your passing speed until there’s a healthy separation between you and the car you passed, then hustle back to the right lane. If you cause the other car to come out of cruise, you done wrong.

Oh, I agree . I was making a stupid joke at the expense of the retreads who pull what you are talking about. Timely too because thing#2 was complaining just now about people on the interstate who speed past you and then slow way the fuck down. My Subaru has a smart cruise control that will automatically slow you down without disengaging. While useful, it's still annoying.

Almost causes an accident trying to pass the guy on the right before giving him a chance to get over. 20 miles later, im still in cruise control going 80 and pass the Taco who is now driving the speed limit without a care in the world. I got stuck behind a wide load a few days ago. So wide it required opposing traffic to pull right off the road, so there was a CHP escort way in front and another behind, with multiple flag trucks. We went about 10mph up a long pass in the desert so needless to say there was a long line of cars stuck behind it. Some doofus in a beemer decided to try and pass the whole line, so he came cruising up the other lane. A couple cars moved over to try to block him but he got around them, and CHP dropped back to block him as well. Like he was going to make it around the wide load. WTF?

It was between Barstow and Joshua Tree. No passing lanes whatsoever. Not sure what the load was, maybe mining equipment, but there was a truck unit behind the trailer as well to help push.

HOA board held a townhall meeting last night to provide info about a massive repair project coming up and how much we're going to have to shell out for a special assessment. $6M project, 270 homeowners. $22k each. The HOA had kept assessments artificially low for decades so our reserves are only funded to about 10% of what they should be. The development is now 45 years old with the same stucco as when built. No surprise, we were starting to get water intrusion in many units. The special assessment is annoying and a big hit, but people's reaction to it is even more annoying. How fucking stupid are these people? Do they think we don't have to do any maintenance, that everything will last forever? They are outraged. Who is responsible for this??? Why are we doing this when we can't afford it??? Why didn't anyone tell us??? Um, they did. But no one bothered to read emails or go to board meetings. But sure, don't address the problem. Instead of paying $6M to fix it for the next 20-30 years we'll pay thousands each time to address individual leaks, rot and mold. The cost so far in 2023 with the wet winter and hurricane is $600k. We'll pay way more piecemeal and the development will get a shitty reputation. Morons.
