While I agree that Eckhart would have been a fabulous choice, at least Rosario Dawson is no slouch. She's wonderful in the role as well.

I agree. It's just that if you've watched Clone Wars etc Eckhart has voiced Ahsoka in 97 episodes, narrated an audiobook, and did Ahsoka's voice in Episode IX Rise of Skywalker. She made Ahsoka, grew Ahsoka, and IS Ahsoka. Then they put Dawson in 2 brief guest appearances with maybe a dozen lines of dialogue and now she is Ahsoka?

It is not a dig on Dawson, but a criticism of Disney's choices. The stated reason was that Dawson is "more athletic" but that is total bullshit. Eckhart is no slouch and they motion capture CGI so many characters. That would have been the appropriate thing to do here with Eckhart and really is what they do with Dawson as I understand it. The actor change was a Kennedy meddling move, pandering for the wrong reasons. Filoni is the only person running good content in that IP space and Kennedy should stop getting her usually toxic touch all over success.

The saving grace of that meddling is that Dawson is indeed good. So as long as Filoni gets to manage the rest of the production it will be good, unlike, say Riddle and Driver's unfortunate lots to be talented actors with hot garbage scripts.

Oh, I agree. Eckhart would've been my #1 pick for sure, and it's kind of baffling that they bothered to replace her to begin with, but like you said, at least Dawson is good in the role so I can let it go. As long as the REST of the production is good, but we shall see. I have some decently high hopes for the show, but there's no telling with the clowns over in the leadership at Disney. Often times they screw things up beyond belief, but occasionally they absolutely nail it. See: Andor They set the bar ridiculously high on that one that it's kind of ruined expectations for the other stuff, which honestly can be fun if you dial expectations accordingly. However I haven't bothered with the Kenobi series yet. I only have so much time.

I did NOT like the Kenobi series. Blair's Leia is annoying and sucks. The script sucks. Kenobi's script sucks and appears to be about someone who bears little resemblance to the Kenobi of the past and future. Who is this pathetic piece of shit? The bright spot in the series is Moses Ingram as 3rd Sister.

Andor was great, though very slow to get going. Good study on the banality of evil and a Star Wars story with no force adepts.

Yeah, Kenobi, I’m really down on it too. Hopefully Ashoka is good. Some times I think just sifting through the comics and novels and directly adapting the best ones would be a better strategy

I'm so confused how we get Andor on one hand and on the other hand we get the Mandalorian. Frankly find Mandalorian pretty boring yet somehow have watched all the episodes.

Anyone know if they are producing more Andor?

Without Kenobi, Auralnauts wouldn't have been able to complete the story with Larry

The whole re-worked series is below, and it better than Kenobi.

Yes, but unfortunately it doesn’t come out until summer ‘24.

Andor was filmed in the UK, so it might not be effected by the us strike

What do you guys think of the Ashoka premiere? I’m cautiously optimistic again. They had a big hurdle to get over visually, taking so many cartoon characters to live action. They’re mostly pulling it off so far I think.

Only watched episode 1 last night, but so far Hera, Ahsoka, the droid Huyang (David Tennant), and Sabine seem true to their origins. Sabine's lothcat will sell thousands of plushies, so there's a merchandizing win for Disney.

I do feel like Rebels is required viewing before this, and I know I don't remember it all that well. Just the general plotline is in my head. Space whales and all that.

All I really want is to see C1-1OP commit more war crimes without remorse. Chopper looks amazing from the previews, and you can totally understand what it's saying.

    Shoot them down!

    Is that bad?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Did you go through my stuff?

    Yes you did!

    What? Oh.

I watched both episodes and thought is was a good start. I haven't watched all of Rebels but understand some of the backstory. My only complaint is that Ahsoka, Hera and Sabine don't seem to have the same on-screen chemistry as the 3 villain's. All the action sequences were great and the scenes with Morgan and Baylan and Shin I thought were all well written. But the scenes with the Ahsoka, Sabine and Hera just felt not as well written to me or something. I'm sure it will get better as the characters get more fleshed out.

I’m disappointed so far. Three really good actors in the leads and they have nothing to work with. The formula is tired. Oh well

Expanding a story that's been told...

I've been enjoying, but that may be due to watching with a 9yo that knows the backstory better than many adult Star Wars geeks.
    All my fault.

Do wish each episode covered a bit more ground

It's definitely growing on me but I'm still not sure I love Rosario Dawson. Ray Stevenson's death is truly a tragedy because he's awesome as Baylon, his character is so well written.

Episode 4 was dope and Rosario plays into the character a little more.

So far, so good. I've only completed the 1st episode and most the 2nd, but I'm enjoying it so far. Ahsoka was a seriously badass Jedi in the Clone Wars series, so it's fun to see her character get the spotlight like this. Episode 1 was a bit of a slow burn and it seems to get going in the next. A bit of the typical modern Disney Star Wars goofiness, but I can't complain too much so far. Looking forward to getting caught up.

I noticed that as well. The villains really shine in this one so far and kind of steal the show compared to the less interesting hero crew. Well, I like Ahsoka and Hera's characters well enough, but find Sabine's character to be just annoying. Perhaps they're just setting her up for the typical hero's journey "bUT FiRsT ImMA do WhAT I wANT!" kind of character. It's fun seeing Mary Winstead (Hera) getting some screen time. I adored her in Scott Pilgrim vs the World.

I really wish the actor who plays Baylan didn’t pass away. Such a great character so far.

Dammit! I just learned he died. Guess I've been out of the loop. That stinks because he is absolutely one of the highlights of the show for sure. Great actor with such a commanding presence. Probably the best performance in the show from what I've seen so far. What a bummer.
