See the note in a hurry thread. Many people prefer to just ride at 10 under until the next town or two lane. The "gotta pass cause it's what I do" crowd are the ones that make me laugh. I'll be sitting on your bumper at the next light.

I know the average TGR dentist probably puts on his driving gloves before piloting his euro sled to his mani pedi, but for others its not their style. Out on the edge of the sticks here, we have to many auto mobile deaths mostly attributable to in a hurry passing like a jackwagon or distracted driving.

But you do you. I'll leave you space and I'll just wave as you go buy. Maybe consider throwing some weights around or getting laid. It might chill you the fuck out.

Oh...it's hayin' season and there is construction everywhere. So give yourself an extra ten, but on some Dave Brubeck, and enjoy the drive.

This made me laugh since just yesterday I was passed by some no-blinker using person in an BMW (of course) X1 driving super agro. Swerving in and out of traffic like a clapped out Altima. Tailgating everybody. I was in a "throw it in 'D' and chilllll" kinda mood and just stayed put in the right lane, going for max mpg. Anyway, what made me laugh was that no matter how hard the guy tried to get somewhere, we all kept getting caught up at the same stop lights all the same despite his best efforts. I somehow always ended up right behind him. I could tell he was getting flustered. Maybe he was tryna get to the hospital or something. Even started to kinda feel bad for the guy a bit. Haha. Who knows, but it still made me chuckle.

I like to haul ass as much as the next person, but time and a place. Sometimes it's futile and you just have to resign yourself to the traffic situation at hand and chill out.

I'm so fucking sick of the massive truck brodozer crowd. They're everywhere here and they make the very worst of the [(insert one): Altima, BMW, Charger/Challenger] drivers look like choir boys. From left lane lollygagging only to get personally affronted when you pass them, to super aggro behavior, to the gravy seals "come and take it" liveries, to the reprehensible parking lot behavior since they can't fit their junior semis into a normal sized parking spot... fucking hate all of it.

There's no sort of about it. It's damned inconsiderate as well, assuming that your willingness to spend time sitting behind a slow vehicle means that everyone coming up behind you should do likewise.

100% this!!! However, in what should go in the "Things That Amuse You Thread," is that I have been starting to see a comical amount of said brodozers broken down off to the side of the highway that are completely missing a wheel. Evidently there have been failures left and right involving those stupid spacers they use so they can have that whole kid's Power Wheels / monster truck look or something. Wheel pops off and they go skidding off to the side, absolutely destroying an entire corner of their truck. Totally deserved. Not that spacers can't be done right, but I'm guessing that too many idiots getting in on the trend are getting cheap components or installing them improperly. Lots of broken axles and other associated parts failures out there too these days due to modding these trucks for looks without addressing all the REST of the critical things that need to be dealt with if you're going for that.

So, basically as a result of all this, we're starting to see truck Darwin at work here. LMAO!

I like seeing the brodozers broken down too. BUT... When the wheels literally fall off like that, they put the other road users in serious danger.

Brodozers should just be banned altogether.

mellow out man, wtf. This attitude is ridiculously silly. If people don't feel comfortable overtaking, too bad so sad. Old drivers, people with underpowered cars with kids in the back - plain shitty drivers who are scared to overtake- they don't have to do shit for you. Impatience is your problem, don't make it everyone elses problem.

This, as annoying as being behind them can be.

The only thing they could do to be helpful is leave a bunch of space in front of them so others know they can pass and still easily get in.

I actually don't mind if people don't want to overtake... but for the love of the FSM, leave enough space between vehicles for other people behind you to do it.

Part of being capable of driving is passing slower vehicles when it's reasonable to do so, whether those slower vehicles are tractors, bicycles, or Aunt Edna in her wagon. I fully understand that power to weight ratio affects the amount of room required (I drove an XTerra, among other examples that took a lot more to make a pass), but when you've got half a mile of visibility and the vehicle in front of you hasn't hit the speed limit in the past five minutes, either go the heck around or maintain a following distance that makes it easy to leapfrog. Just about any modern vehicle is capable of that, as evidenced by the Geo Tracker comment.

If you aren't capable of driving, either learn how or don't do it. I realize that's tough in a country that doesn't believe in effective public transit or housing in walkable neighborhoods, but it is by far the most dangerous activity most people do on a daily basis; learning how to do it right shouldn't be that big an ask.

My local brew pub closes early. Post mtn bike rip I was headed there to grab a bite and a beer before they shut off ordering. Speed limit is 45. Two cars in front guy is going 30-35. I'm working really hard to just slow down and not worry about any of life's little annoyances. That was a true test! I'll give myself a C+. If I wasn't under a time crunch I'd probably would have gotten a B. An A grade for 15mph below speed limit is probably unattainable, but I'm going to try...because why the hell not. It just doesn't matter.

    I'm trying...I'm trying real hard!

I just assume the people driving those things are rich as fuck and that sort of thing won't phase them. Some of those trucks are like $60k just to buy the non-modded version off the lot.

Yeah, as a rule of thumb (even before finding out they're now prone to lose a wheel) I try and steer way clear of any brodozers cause in my experience they're generally the types of guys who are just looking for a reason to act like a douche.

Example: I was on a street here (3 lanes in each direction) in the right hand lane. Brodozer pulls up alongside my left and I notice that the roof of my car doesn't even reach the steprails on this truck. All of a sudden the truck starts turning into my lane right on top of me, no blinker, no toot of the horn, just starts turning and getting inches from my roof. I lay on the fucking horn to let him know I'm down there and he wildly swings back into his lane and starts blowing this fucking train horn hes got hooked up to his rig.

I want no part of this so I make the next right turn I can into a shopping center lot and this guy follows me, still laying on his train horn, all because I wouldn't let him run my car over cause he couldn't see what's next to him 10' below his homemade tonka truck. I pull in front of the grocery store in the shopping center if for any reason that there's a lot of people there and this guy might move on but no he kept following and honking.

By the good grace a cop then walks out of the Publix as I'm parked in front of it with this small dick mobile madly honking behind me and raises his arms at the truck like "what the hell are you honking about". The truck sees the cop and quickly goes around me leaving the shopping center as quickly as they can.

Oh, my kid was in the back seat too.

Reminds me of driving between West Yellowstone and Bozeman this spring.

Was going 5 over the speed limit, and dude in his brodozer just sat on my ass with literally miles of clear road in front of us and no real good places for me to pull over. Any sane person would have just passed, but this guy clearly had a point to prove.

I finally found a spot and made sure I pulled in reaaaal slow into the turnout.

Caught up to the guy at the light in Big Sky and he was doing the same shit to the next guy all the way through the canyon.

I personally would be fine with these vehicles being regulated out of existence and drivers licenses revoked for an extended period for this sort of behavior.

Not gonna lie, it really freaked me out especially with my boy in back.

As we got out of there I did see the cop watching the truck leave the parking lot the whole way. So in my mind I hope that he called it in on his radio and they caught up with the douche a mile down the road (you'd have to be blind to miss this monstrosity) and upon stopping him found that he's on an expired license and had a whole bunch of drugs, open containers and guns in the car. At least in a just world that's what happened.

I had sort of a similar thing happen a few months ago with my kids in the car and it really changed how I drive and react to other drivers, especially after having the thought of "that person could have had a gun." I think STFU&GBTY had some sort of similar run in years back with kids and posted something introspective.
