The AQI numbers are lying, this shit is terrible. I think that when it's mixed with high humidity it's worse because the particles get bigger and darker as they adhere to the water vapor molecules. This makes it seem denser and may not register the same on an air quality meter because the particles are too large. All I really know is the visibility sux and my eyes feel like shit.

    Wildfire 2023

Yeah we rode up here, every time we got to a view spot, I couldn’t believe how smokey it was. Definitely getting old, hope it doesn’t last all summer.

Here’s a quick picture of one from work. It was a long shift, with two structure fires and two brush fires in heavy timber. Got 5 hours of sleep in a 48 hr shift. This one was lit right before sunset(likely arson) and extended into a scrapyard right at dark. We ended up with over a dozen car fires in addition to the rather large initial problem.

Looks like some good progress. Some incredible shots that were shared then pulled (Maybe because of a night drone shot among them?).

Amazing shots! Smoke does indeed create artistic lighting ....... now if we could just eliminate all the other issues.

We've got an arsonist running around W2. They know who she is (homeless woman) and have arrested her but I guess couldn't hold her so out she went and immediately started more fires. She mostly lights fires in vegetation in town.

They were far away from each other and FireBoss and Canadairs were refilling by Mosier (no scooper is gonna pick up water at the Hatchery ever if there is wind). If the Hatch was open I probably would have been sailing. Instead I had hamburgers at the Hook watching the aerial ballet.

Now on the other hand, Yesterday, choppers we filling right by the WS bridge and kiters were still in that area. dumb dumb.

Saw that this morning. We got a couple small puffers here, a couple in the parks that are modified response, but so far nothing like the north. See there’s an EO near Telkwa. CBC interview with BCWS saying that we don’t have enough crews, especially with the bad season out east.
Hope you in the Bulkley weather this storm!

Spent the weekend helping out with structure protection between here and Telkwa on the Tatlow side. Looks like they have done a great job on that one. The Parrot Lookout and Tintagel one near Burns Lake look like they could be very hard battles. I feel for the folks getting evacuated- but a special pain thinking of all those bridges that the BLMB put in - really hope those don’t get hit.
