Ah, that's the rub, at least for those of us in CA. If there are three flakes of snow on the ground R1 chain control goes up. More then eight, its R2 and that's it for two drive wheel w/o chains.

I got the same on mobile. On my computer, there was a play icon in the picture that didn't work, but there was a link in the text just above that took me to this page with a "watch film" button that did work. Still haven't watched but it clearly worked.

I did Eldorado over 2 days this summer (didn't summit due to weather). Camped on the ridge about a thousand feet below the summit in an absolute freezing cold blizzard. It is a burly approach. Classic Cascades, where the crux is the river crossing 100' from the parking lot. I was thinking the whole way up, "there's no way I'd want to carry skis up here, just not worth it". I guess doing it in a day with skis is probably about the same amount of gear as without skis but packed for overnight. Still, to pull it off after riding a bike from Tahoe? No thanks. That's incredibly burly.

It gets normalized living in WA, but their reaction of horror to rural SnoCo was a reminder how fucking shitty the place actually is.

I grew up a stone’s throw from Oso. Across the river and over the ridge. What shittiness are you talking about?

Really though, north Snohomish county could’ve been West Virginia growing up if it weren’t for the mountains.
