Maybe it is a red flag. Now you know a thing, and can decide what to do going forward. If this sort of BS continues, and outweighs other factors, start looking for a new job. I had a VP question a postage stamp, and a tank of gas once, (I bought gas in downtown Chicago, huh, it was expensive). I hid money in expenses elsewhere, kept him happy, and after a promotion, didn't need his influence anymore.

Win the war, not the battle.

Definitely a red flag. Was also questioned about airport parking and personal mileage to/from airport (totaling maybe $60 each trip) when I should be utilizing a park n ride service (which is always a colossal goat fuck in Jackson).

The delays always seem to be caused by some glitch they won't elaborate on, resulting in my re-entering each expense in Concur. Just submitted another one this morning for over $800 and I'm sure will take several attempts of playing patty-cake with accounting before I'm reimbursed.

I travel a fair mount ~40 weeks a year and used to have Concur as the travel expense system. The Concur system worked well, the Finance reviewers in foreign lands delaying payments were another story. It is strange to me that Fortune 500 companies expect their employees to "float" them with slow travel reimbursement.

Are there guidelines or policies they have for travel? They can be worth reading and exploiting. When I traveled for work I could either take a taxi/uber to the airport or drive myself. I could only bill drive time if the round trip was over 50 miles. I live 27 miles from the airport. Guess which option I took?

Depending on how they structure the guidelines etc., reading through them may allow you to get reimbursed faster and with quite a bit less hassle.

I’ve got a question for Delta medallion members. Do you set your profile to automatic upgrades to 1st class and comfort +? My profile was set to only upgrade automatically for first class, but as a lowly silver, I never see that happening. How does it work, i.e. does it give you the chance to approve of the upgrade before it changes your seat?

I always pick a preferred seat at booking that’s typically a bulkhead or exit row and I don’t want to give that up for a middle seat in comfort +. What’s the play here?

OK, do you have a good boss or a trusted ally at the company? Find out if you are the asshole or if the accountant is. I say this with all due respect. If everyone else is OK with the system, you may not fit in. A good boss can cover for you in these situations. A good ally may know the work-around. Anyway, start looking...

I barely expect to travel for my new gig. They use concur, but I haven't had to submit anything yet. Day one I had a corporate amex. I don't like mixing business with my personal accounts.

It doesn't give you the chance to pick your seat, I t just does it for you. Sometimes the night before you know, sometimes they change yer seat as you board, and print a new seat assignment. If it's the night before, try to change ASAP. Not sure if you can revert back to your original seat, never tried.

It can happen if yer lowly silver. I often get comofrt and maybe once got 1st class. Usually happens on flights that are not popluar, of course. I get upgraded every time going to Burbank, for example. Big planes going to big cities usually have me way way way down on the list, there are some serious biz fliers out there.

Accounting calling him out on airport parking is ridiculous, you were right all along.

Lately it gives me the ability to select whether you are willing to take a Comfort+ middle seat (Def not worth it). I'm Gold and I've been getting upgraded 75% of my flights lately.

Muted and phatty, thanks for the info. If I can pick or revert that’s worthwhile. If I get bumped out of an exit aisle seat to a middle comfort that’s a no go. I’ll test it tomorrow.

Paging Parvo... Need an update. So, does the company think the accountant is the great employee, saving the company millions, or he’s an ass, and you can expense whatever the hell you want?

Got paid about half so far and according to Concur the other expenses are approved and slowly making their way thought the process.

I used to work for a company where the president was a former college football coach and everything was a football analogy. He'd always say "accountants don't manage the fucking team and they're not calling plays! They're the goddamn scorekeepers and tell us if we're winning or loosing." He'd get irate if he found out an accountant was stalling payments or making decisions.

I can’t find that on my app. I just checked into a flight and got “upgraded” to a middle seat comfort plus out of aisle exit row. It doesn’t look like I can go back either.

I just went into my profile and deselected automatic upgrades to comfort plus.

I get it every time I check in. Usually if you catch that type of "upgrade", a gate or phone agent can help you get your old seat back.

Neck pillows for flights? Who's using them? Recommended or nah?

I've found the road warrior life definitely isn't for me, at least workwise. Like to travel, but on my schedule. I'd rather drive 8 hours than fly 2. The raise wasn't worth the hassle and I find myself getting less done. I'm not productive on the road, in a hotel, or on flights.

No neck pillow. Never understood them. Most trips I have a packable insulated jacket I can stuff into its own hood and use that as a pillow. Key for sleeping is getting a window seat.

I use a cheap inflatable pillow because I can limit the inflation to where it doesn't push my neck off the seat since most airline seats already have support here. All you are looking for is keeping your head from lolling to the side. Gotta practice to know how much air to put in on the ground so it has the right support when the cabin altitude goes to 8000ft. Window is best for sleep.

Windows seat + lightweight hooded jacket or sweatshirt to block light. One with a big hood you can pull down over your eyes. I find it easiest to fall asleep during takeoff with the additional weight of the positive g's.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

    Window seat every time

Better for snoozing and not getting hit with the drink cart in aisle seat
If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

Not all of us are so lucky. I have a trip to Hong Kong coming up soon stuck in coach the whole time.

Also bring your own, cloth eye shade. Cheap and helps make sure you sleep better.
