203cm in '93=bump skis
223cm would be badass.
I ride 223s switch to the road in jeans.
Seriously, got back into skiing 5 years ago on Line Prophet 90s. Have gone through lots of skis since but none at that level of stoke.
Man I loved those skis.
The SF93s' were all the better.
This should be in the "Things you're nostalgic for thread" in the PR

Old school goats. Yeah I'm young.
Back in the early '90s I had a pair of 195 Dynastar Vertical Assaults that I really loved. I wanted good bump ski and I got it in those.
Not the best skis I've ever been on, just the first ones I really loved.

+1. Those were my second pair of bump skis and I loved em. Probably mostly for the awesome graphics but man the clear topsheet cracked on my first bump run with em. Prior to that were some Rossi 4sm's that were badass too but I remember the Verticals and the Force 9's as my first two true loves when it comes to the quiver.

Awesome, I read your thread title and the first thing that popped into my head was my F9's. My first real pair of skis and for some reason the coolest things ever!
These were a 'gateway drug' to me.

The first pair of skis I really fell in love with were my first year Sir Francis Bacons. Changed everything about skiing for me.
203-ish Dynastar Coupe De Monde GS boards with the salmon insignia under the boot area from around when Tommy Moe won his Olympic Gold. I could do anything on those and faster than I had ever gone before.
I guess that puts me in the more "senior" end of the spectrum around here...
In constant pursuit of the perfect slarve...
First pair of skis I fell in love with were when my brother gave me his old pair of Dynastar Omeglas'...way back longer ago than I'd care to remember. I'd been racing in junior race skis...mostly Rossis and Atomics in my preteen and early teens, and then when my brother turned me on to those Omeglas's...I was just so pysched by the lightness and quickness of them. But mostly I was enamored by the "adultness" of them. My first pair of adult skis...as memorable of a tentative first step into the world of adults as one's first pot.
He kept the damn "Jet Sticks" though...if any of you are old enough to remember those plastic yellow things.

I'm surprised how much love there is for the Force 9. I used to call it the Fail 9 - mostly to mess with my friends, but those early Salomon cap skis did seem to have a high incidence of failure.
For me it was the Volkl G31.
K2 KVC Comp with Marker MRR turntables
YES!!!!! I always somehow knew DBT was an Olin Mark ____ skier !!
DEATHVAN:
Those K2 KVCs are my all-time favorite 'old-school', non-parabolic skis!!! Those things had it all....lightness, quickness, stability, excellent response.
Still have them somewhere....and they still have the Markers on them.
Wait a minute.....Are you me?????

Salomon X-Mountains. It was the first ski that was shorter than a 200+ and wider than 68mm.
Johnny's only sin was dispair
Nice! Those blue salomons were the first pair of skis that I bought for myself as a teenager. Worked at a local grocery store as soon as I was old enough, and rode my bike back and forth. The boss let me go at some point with some sort of a last hired/ first fired speech, probably to soften the blow to my sensitive young ego. What did I care??? I had already earned enough dough to get myself some F9's and sweet rear-entry boots to match. The boots lasted longer than they should've, and I still have them in the basement for hoarding purposes. One ski was turned into a shot ski, and the other is awaiting new life in some other useful form.

I had lots of great "straight" skis, but never really loved any of them. Then "shaped" skis were all the rage, and I pretty much hated them all. Then I tried a pair of G30s and they were exactly what I was looking for. A traditional ski with a little more width and sidecut - as apposed to the ridiculous carve-or-die shapes, or the noodles being marketed as "freeride" skis. Since the season was over, I bought a pair of G31s the following year.
I broke a teal 4S in half. Not just de-lamed, but broken core. The only thing holding it together was the topsheet. The other one is in a ski fence now. I had a pair of purple 4Gs back then too, and my friends made fun of me (because they were sub-200 by a few CMs), with comments like, "How do you like those girl's skis?"
AR you are a figment of my imagination. Boom! I just blew your mind
-I bought those with my own money on layaway, it took me 4 months of caddying and mowing lawns to pay them off. I remember riding my bike to the ski shop every week with a meager payment, asking to see them and fondling the hell out of them. I clicked into them in my bedroom (with my full gear on) when I got them home the first day (August)
>I'll repost this picture I took from Juneau, so many killer boards on this wall
