For me it had to be the teal Rossi 7S I saved up for as a kid. I ended up selling them to a guy that collects vintage skis on Epic. They are the ones in these pics (the yellow 9S were mine also):

^^^ I, one of my brothers, and/or my dad, have owned almost every ski in that photo. This thread is turning into the old man's club.
I guess I'm a bit younger than you geezers... When I was on straight skis I was too young to have an opinion that mattered (some might argue that's still the case) The atomic R:ex was the first ski I wanted to bring to bed with me. I still have a pair and I still think they are great.

Nice...a ton of rossis bookended by KVCs on one side and Volkl Explosivs on the other....and ALL of them are sweet skis!
The K2's were my favorite skis for lots of reasons...but probably the 'highest performance skis straight skis I'd owned were a pair of Volkl P10s that just wanted to fly. Volkls sometimes had topsheet delam though...but made up for that with probably the best bases ever made...bar none.
But if I was to pick one brand that continually had good, consistant build quality...year after year...at least through the 70s, 80s and a good part of the 90s....it would be Rossignol. Rossis, along with Atomic Arc Bionics, were THE club ski for years...because they ALWAYS put out a good, consistant product. Of course, this is just a IMO sorta thing.
KVC was still my all-around straight board, though.

I can remember my first ski. It was a Mickey Mouse K2 that was black and yellow. I inheirited them from my sister. I can still remember walking around my parents house with them on with some sort of red boots that had sheep skin on the inside! 1972 was a good year. Good god I'm gettting old.
Elan SXComp (Titanium core!)(? I think this was the model number). It was a great quiver of one, especially on the ice coast.!
Atomic red sleds in a 207 with Marker MRR's...
Wish I still had them.
pocket rockets cus i love the backseat
bf
Showing my age here...
Late '70's era Rossi Strato 195s - my first pair of skis
Next pair I loved - Rossi Bandit XX
My romances :1st, Rossi CM's(probably about a 180),then... Fisher Vacuum's (200's), Rossi 9S's (200's), Rossi Viper Z's (190), 2nd gen Rossi Viper Z's (184's)... Also really loved my Rossi Downhill's (223's).
I do have some love for the first pair I ever owned, a pair of Kastle superglass's from the 70's. 180cm ( I probably should have been on 150's but thats all we had, stiffer than stiff, its what I "learned" on) I eventually thought it was a good idea to mount them to a Flexible-Flyer ... seemed like a good idea at the time![]()
For me, it was a pair of '92 201 Rossi 7SK's (the black ones) w/Marker MRR binders. For Midwest or eastern ice and frozen death cookies, those skis were friggin amazing. The problem was w/the quick release button on the back of the heel piece. All of my buddies and I got really good at ejecting each other with a well-placed ski pole jab while on the lift or while hauling ass...
The first gen Rossi 4S in teal green with Marker MRR. Skied full time that year so the foam core did not even last one season! Loved that ski. Great slalom race ski and a great bumper too.
Dynamic VR27 slalom(black 'n gold),then it was the K2 TNC. Some years later it was the K2 Big Kahuna/Olin Outer Limits.
Volkl P9 in a 207. Bent 'em good, Dynastar course GS to follow. Bent those the same season, Rossi 4G next. Pretty good run...
Life is tough. It's tougher when you're stupid
Rossi 4S 195s
and a couple of single planks that were truly lifechanging...
Lib Tech Inner-Course (my first dedicated race board)
and Lib Tech Doughboy (1990 I think...6'3" of powder bliss)
salomon 9000E 2s
I thought the mark Vs were the shit after upgrading to the 747 and SX91s then I put riva's on the 7Ss when I replaced the supercomps with the 1st terinators, even better.
then the diablo & the grocer ruined me for two planks
ps used that grocer last week for happy carves between face shots & rock drops
embrace the gape

First - Dynamic VR 27 circa late 1980's friends father's ski. Loved that ski! Offered to buy them off him but he wasn't selling. Every time I went to the Loaf that year he would let me ski them for a day. So much energy, snap and pop. Been searching for a pair since. Got a pair in minty shape?
The Passion is in the Risk
Shit, I've been in love with almost every ski I've ever owned, but if I had to pick just one it would probably be the Dynastar Pro Course-S, '94 or '95 I think. The black and purple ones. Some decent width under foot for a straight ski and super versatile.
195cm cause I'm only 5'7" on a tall day.
Other contenders:
Original Rossi 4S 200cm
Rossi 4M 195cm
Atomic PCM 198cm
Solly 1080 mogul 180cm
Original Solly 1080 177cm
Pocket Rocket 175cm because I too love the back seat
Life used to be simpler. One pair of slalom boards, usually bought on closeout and skied every day in every condition for 100 days or so and then thrown in a dumpster or turned into an adirondack lounger if you really loved 'em...
Dynastar Coupe GS. 207s of course. Fun in the tight trees.
