Anyone else not own a television?

Along the lines of the cell phone. I admit to actually owning a television, which I got from a friend who was upgrading about 6 months ago, the only thing hooked to it is a PS3. Haven't watched TV for probably 10 years now except for glimpses in bars, or hotels. And when I do turn a TV on in a hotel, I can't find anything on that remotely interests me. It all seems to be bad reality shows, un-funny sit-coms, or entertainment news. It seems to much of a waste of time I could spend doing other things, to sit in front of the tube.

So who else turned off the TV, and hasn't turned it back on?

I have that hadn't been turned on in 6-7 years, and now it doesn't work anymore.

Although I have owned TV's for the better part of 15 years, I've only had cable sporadically for a total of about 3 years.

I think the real question everyone wants to see in this forum is:

Does anyone else not own a computer?

I do, but watch maybe 1.5 shows a week. If not for roommates, I wouldn't have cable (or the tv probably)

I have a tv, but we don't get cable or anything like that. We do get netflix, which is pretty much the only thing the tv gets used for (except for the occasional drunken mario-kart tourny).

We successfully stole cable for a long time. In my current house, the cable company did a much better job at preventing us from stealing it. Life is now better.

Dont own a TV, or internet. My home PC is for music/movies/video editing only. I just use the computer/web at the library.

    Impressive.

I have a TV but, like others, don't have cable. Only use it to watch movies. If I really want to watch something - NBA finals, etc. - I'll go to a bar usually.

I have a 32" trinitron tube tv, but hope to upgrade to a 55" modern tv very soon. I have not decided on LED, LCD, or plasma. It will be on continually when I am around, forcing knowledge into my brain.

I work in TV News, but I don't watch any. I only watch Sports or TiVOed shows - SP, Family Guy, True Blood, Spartacus, etc. Now that I have Netflix hooked up through the Wii it's even less broadcast stuff.

word. Spent a lot of time/$ at the bar watching the NHL, but it was worth every penny. TV is mom's that she was gonna toss in 1995, last time it was connected to cable was 2000...

We (family of 5 with two teenagers and a 12 yr old) turned off satalite the first of june (no locals either) and have not missed it at all. We did sign up for netflix and are watching some movies between rafting and camping trips. Had planned on turning tv back on this fall for football season but not sure now. Not having it has been a blessing.

No TV and cable for myself.

I do have a laptop hooked up to a 22" screen for watching dvd's and such.

I gave up cable in 2004 and haven't looked back. I couldn't stand paying 50 dollar a month to watch a bunch of crap.

Since about 1991, with a few breaks in between when there just happened to be one in the house in which I lived. Never owned one of those game consoles either, nor a proper stereo, nor owned any dvd's to speak of.

I guess entertainment is pretty low on my list of priorities. Actually, that would be hypocritical as the internet fills a pretty big gap. Try this for entertainment [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ImvlS8PLIo"]YouTube- 'A Universe From Nothing' by Lawrence Krauss, AAI 2009[/nomedia]

i could live easily with cable (broadcast) tv. although i might spend more time at the pub during the world cup.

divx players and plasma screens are all i need these days.
