    New Ski Tuning Tips

Seems like there have been a few threads about new skis and bad factory tunes. Peeps have replied with some good tips as to what they do with brand new skis prior to skiing. Gummi stone work, dulling so many inches from contact points, etc. Thought maybe it could be helpful to consolidate. I am guilty of usually just doing nothing but mount and ski which seems to work most of the time.

Lot of real technicians on this board that know their stuff about this. What do you do?

Check base flatness with a true bar and get a base grind if necessary, then proceed with normal tuning procedures. Nothing special about new skis, really.

first of all i would examine and decide if the ski really needs TO be tuned

if its really so badly concave I would get it stone ground cuz a m/c can do a better job than me

I don't dull edges but the time i did I carried a small piece of emery cloth with me on piste so i just did 5 cms at a time and test skied until I was happy
