Trying to get my nephew fitted into some boots where he could ski my quiver.
Tried to fit him into an old 29.5 Nordica 100mm last I have, with a Scarpa universal liner. Haven't cooked them yet, but appears he'll be too wide even after a cook. Would probably work with a plug liner, and that's a possibility, but got to thinking Full Tilt, as they ain't much more than liners.
Anyways, he's about a finger at the back on the 29.5 shell, but didn't complain about his toes much, only width pressure.
In Full Tilt we could try him in a 30 in the older 99 shell and the BSL would match my quiver, or in the 29.5 Booter 102mm and maybe work with my quiver at 5mm shorter on bsl.
So how are the Fult Tilt for width and length, vs other brands?
Scarpa and Dynafit both have a few that are wide, but could match up on bsl if the Full tilt won't work.
The 102mm FT boots are a crappy repurposed old boot mold. Unlike the narrow FT boots which are a revered old boot mold. My guess: your nephew wants FT because they're cool. But neither boot is probably the right option for him.
Go to a ski store and have him try on a dozen pairs of boots. If he's obnoxious about brand/color, make him do it with his eyes covered so he only judges by feel.
my 29/29.5 FT First Chairs measure out to a 326 BSL, which i think is pretty short for the size. last is going to vary by model- my FC's are 98mm, Booter's are 102mm, etc. im not sure if there's a correlation between increased last width and BSL within sizes in the FT lineup, but i'm sure the interwebs can help with that.
