    DIY riser plates

I've been searching and can't find much about this, but have seen it mentioned that people have made risers out of plastic cutting boards. Anyone know anything about this? Specifically to mount hammerheads to a skinny ski. I keep booting out and need more lift, and don't want to use a real stiff race plate.
I'm in a band. It's called "Just the Tip."

I cut risers out of a cutting board for the old Bandit XXXs with a salomon (997?) binding. I used the ski for fairly obnoxious pow and cliff hucking. I was a hack back then and it held up great.

I got longer screws and went through the plate (cutting board). At the time others suggested I first mount the plate and then the binding on top of that, but I felt that was too many weak points. The argument against my mount was the torque could result in a binding pulling out. It never did. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, if I actually wanted a riser. I don't.

I just laid my bindings on the cutting board, drew an outline with a sharpie and cut with a jig saw (which kind of melted the plastic and made the cutting kind of a pain in the ass, IIRC) Wasn't pretty, but it was tight, tall, and bomber. I used to tour with trekkers on that thing. Talk about heavy!!

    Go for it.
