Evan Valiere of Kauai, Hawaii loves riding the waves of his home island more than just about anything. But he knows that once the sun goes down, even pro surfers need another passion to focus on: for him, it’s his wife and daughter, who have given his life on land a true purpose. Valiere wants to give his young daughter the same determination, creativity, and love of adventure that has driven him through his life and career. He runs a surf school as well as a service called Rent a Local, where he rents out stand up paddleboards, guides hiking and snorkeling tours, and shows people his beautiful island. He says that he aspires to be like the surfers before him, who have been “hardcore, psyched on what they do, creative, and good at it.” We’d say he’s well on his way.
