The North Face recently collaborated with Japanese biotech company, Spiber, to create the first mass produced synthetic spider silk. The notoriously difficult to harvest material is historically stronger than steel and tough as nails.
The "Moon Parka" is merely just a prototype at this point, but it could represent the next big leap in tech fabrics. Expected to come out in 2016, we're curious to see if the jacket can live up to it's reputation.

Cool stuff but I wished they would have shown more of the jacket itself and how it is tested in the field instead of the way it’s produced. Nevertheless, it looks real badass ;) I wonder about the price though. Maybe it won’t be so bad.

“historically stronger than steel and tough as nails.” what a sloppy sentence.
