For those who know Palouse Falls, you know just how close he came to making the ultimate plunge. I guess he had about another 500 feet before a pretty big drop.

Palouse Falls is a 189-foot waterfall located in Washington state, and an absolute beast of drop. So far only two kayakers have attempted the falls. In 2009 Tyler Bradt completed the first successful run of the Palouse, and in 2012 Rafa Ortiz attempted to recreate his feat. Unfortunately, Ortiz came out of his boat after running the waterfall, so the descent did not count.

James Ng in the video above, attempted to run the Little Palouse Falls, 1,000 feet upstream from the main drop. He gets caught up on a rock, getting flipped upside down, and swept over the crux of the drop. After a couple more failed rolls his sprayskirt implodes, sending him on a course over the falls and to an almost certain death.
Amazingly Ng fished himself out of the river before the drop. He suffered a concussion and had to get a couple stitches, but is lucky to walk away with his life.
