Aspen, Colorado — For months, Heath Frisby has been working with one goal in mind – land a front flip on his snowmobile.
All of that practice and hard work led him to Sunday night’s Snowmobile Big Air. As he took his turn he raced his snowmobile up the ramp and when he landed the goal was accomplished. He had executed the first-ever front flip to capture gold in Snowmobile Best Trick.
“This has been everything to me really,” an emotional Frisby said. “My whole family and friends have been behind me. I set a goal for myself and I always told myself I can’t do two things at once but if I focus on one thing I can do it. It feels great.“
The joy was apparent on his face, his families face and with his fellow competitors. Many mobbed the Idaho native as he stepped foot off the snowmobile.
“I feel so happy for Heath to get his gold medal and with all the work he put into it,” the bronze medalist Joe Parson said.
Crowd favorite Colten Moore followed up his gold in Snowmobile Freestyle with an Indie-Ruler Flip and a silver medal.
“It’s amazing, it awesome when everyone’s into it,” Moore said. “When everyone’s loud and cheering it makes you that much more happy to be out there.”
Parsons earned the bronze with a trick he deemed the “gator wrestler.”
“I am just stoked I was able to slide in there with the trick I am doing,” Parsons said. “It is so fun for me to do. I am just glad it worked out the way that it did.”
The Best Trick course consists of metal take-off rams to snow landings. Riders hit a single jump to attempt freestyle tricks, such as body varials, backflips and combo tricks using 500-pound snowmobiles.
